Dealer madness or this normal?

In this case, especially as it's a demo, I'd check the thing doesn't have smash and grab already; seen complaints and dealer "mistakes" about this one before.

Well that’s what OP said. It’s already on the car because it’s a demo so he is fighting it down.

In my case the factory windows are done for the rear passengers but I had to have it done for the fronts and back and then they accidentally did it on the rear windows anyway so they are like proper double dipped and gangster dark now.

He ended up giving me two bottles of wine out of his own pocket.
See, small thing, wouldn't have cost much, can go a long way.
I dunno, maybe I should try run a dealership and I'll see why some things happen the way they happen cos some practices truly baffle me. I also do kinda get the other side, like every single customer is in there trying to get you to lower the price of everything, everyone wants a deal. Least in my business, the price is the price. People don't look at a R10 can of coke and say they'll give me R8 for it.

I think it’s also a case for different profit channels going to different places.

Like the commission for the sales person comes off the actual selling price of the car, whereas the “up sell” items go into the financial department budgets etc.

I remember when I bought a car from SMG they would not move on the price of the car at all but were happy to work that back for me with the trade-in and adding extra warranty etc because that came out of a different budget.

Oh yeah I forgot the fuel which costs the same for a brand new car as a second hand one but for “reasons” you never get a full tank unless you fight them for it.
I didn't even get a full tank when I bought our Chery new :(
I did realise however we are too hard on "pretty cars" coming from Land Rovers. So looking for a bakkie now :)

I definitely made sure this was listed on my OTP having learnt previously they like to pull a fast one on this particular point.

But it is shocking that was the case even for a new car. My fok.

Makes you question what the point of buying new even is.

Until something goes wrong with it and you have to mortgage your house to pay for the repair bill.
Utter nonsense. I have lots of experience with those brands. No more expensive than any other brand. On top, spares are readily available. Not so with the Chinesium crap

On the road fees are a con.

I just purchased an approved used car from a dealer and got whacked for R7500. They didn't give me a full tank of fuel, claiming their ''budget'' only allows for R300's worth of fuel and the thing was close to empty when I test drove it for the second time. I ended up driving out that R300 on the same day I got the car because I was joy riding.

I did somewhat get my own back by pointing out a dent that they fixed, asked them to throw in a set of floor mats (Dealer branded and of pretty good quality I must say) and I also told them that I did not like the state of the parcel shelf and got them to swap it out with that of another car. I also commented on the wheel alignment when I test drove it and they got that done, giving me the report from Tiger Wheel & Tyre. They claimed this was done on the house, but I know I paid for it via the on the road fees.

I also got a hamper - bottle of wine, pretzels, peanuts & raisins and a Lindt chocolate - but I am sure I paid for that as well.

One thing to remember is the dealers does not always make a lot of money on some cars.
Years ago I was selling cars at VW and the dealership made something like 2k profit on a new Citi golf. Then the salesman still got R650 of that. So just giving a tank of fuel on that is not possible.
Even used cars get marked down sometimes if they stand for long on the floor with little profit left on them.

Jaecoo Tygevralley is willing to willing to do some work, there demo has 350km on the clock, basically new.
Out the door price of R652k.

Told them to work some magic on trade-in, see if we can out the door price to 642k. My trade-in is worth the extra 10k, so hoping it can be done.
N1 city only settled my old trade-in, did not offer anything extra that can be used as extra deposit

At least you can fix one of those cars. Good luck fixing your disposable Chinese car in ten years when they've stopped supporting it. The give and take of the fast moving Chinese car industry is that old models are going to be left in the dust for the newer ones.

Did you apply for finance through the dealership, or privately? They tend to screw you on interest rates when going through the dealership.

With my R5k deductible I'd probably pay the dent repair. The road fees are ludicrous and I'm surprised the maintenance plan isn't included in the sticker price.

EDIT: I see the R15k is for an "upgrade", whatever the heck that is.
probably extrra 2 years etc.

Any outcum?
I have to wait now, till the 3rd of December thats when car launches apparently. Paper work can be done on the 1st.

Each BYD dealer will get 8 cars at launch price, I was number 5, I would guess it is probably sold out now by my dealer.

Sealion 5 basically done deal, will probably make new thread about how it is etc.

Ordered a wall mount charger from temu what can go wrong lol
