Aaaand.... new transponder added today, not going to go in to the possible why's.

11888H DVB-S2 , probably only for regional uses elsewhere.

@Geoff.D
@krugie

I have a question, lets assume I have two 1080p TV's side by side.

One is hooked up to an explorer with HDMI and gets its signal via the dish.

The other is using streaming via a media box on HDMI.

Lets also assume that the dish is at 100% quality/signal strength and the streaming app/internet is working flawlessly.

Which of the two will have the better picture quality?

DStv via satellite only goes up to 1080i, which is mostly normal worldwide. So your media box beats that.

They do offer 1080p on some of their streaming, not sure of the details. And there were plans for 4K for the Olympics which I think they did.

(Not here again until later.)

Well, I wanted to say media box always wins, BUT streaming on the web from DSTv at 1080, vs any other streaming service, the other service will win, EVERY time

New software caused me XtraView issues, something I've not had before.
Fix - did an XV reset online which worked , but didn't hold on next test. Then rebooted both units, now fine.

Can anyone here get the new Muslim channel 345 INX Prime on their Explora or basic HD decoders?

MC seem to be really messing up here. It's a SD only channel, but on one of the even-higher frequency transponders that are so far all still blocked as always on my Explora 1.
Works fine on older SD decoders (shows a countdown clock until Wed. launch). Seems for all packages (not certain about EasyView).

How many more new channels are destined for this 11 928V transponder? Until now these are only used for rest of Africa's regional channels.

I have an explora 2? (it has a glow in the dark remote :) ) and I get the countdown on 345.

Also have a 2A ... Countdown here as well
Thanks. It's looking like a software issue, only the two highest frequencies and things have got stuck on this unit before.
Not going to worry about it, personally not worth the effort yet.

Can confirm that channel's also counting down on the (cheap) HD decoder.

Very likely their software, but since it is regular for you now then also likely it can only be sorted by getting a new unit... which hopefully doesn't also end up going west.

Some feedback from me on this - sometime over this last weekend, the uncontrollable scrolling of channels stopped happening, so I presume it was a software error they got to know about & correct - certainly hope so, and it doesn't take place again.

The new movie channel 113 Movie Room, isn't looking as bad as I feared. Already found a movie to record on Sun.
IMO content type is better than 138 eMovies, so far not as good as 140 eMovies Extra. But there's tons of repeats.
Launches on Sat.

Guides for 113 are utterly confused of course.... has been mostly blank on the Explora, now there but completely different to my SD guide.
Wot a surprise..

If the schedules are right, DStv isn't going to show the last 4 episodes of Good Doctor s4 on 115. They are going to just drop it to show FBI International.

Not only do they have an allergy to regularly putting new, decent shows on the lower packages but now they can't finish the ones they started.

(I've just seen they are airing s3 of The Orville on 1Magic. Another show I can forget about continuing to watch in the future then)

Don't worry, they've gone woke so you're not missing anything. So far it's not even a comedy anymore..

181 NatGeo finally went HD.

Note that series recording is not working yet.

Edit: NatGeo Wild as well.

So.
Those wanting the eTV channels' content online, it's free here: https://watch.evod.co.za/
Must join to access content. It's in partnership with MTN but accepts other cellphone numbers too.

They also offer some sort of subscription, but why isn't clear. Maybe no ads then.

If anyone finds they also have live streaming online please post (I don't use apps).

And how do they think they're going to explain to everyone with the Movies Plus option that they're losing 1 of their 3 staple diet channels now??
Wow!
The problem with that is it's not channel based. A lot of their more "premium" stuff is subscription only.

Just finished a free month upgrade reward on a subscription, didn't correct itself. Checked my account online - I've been charged for the higher package now.

Unbelievable.
Why I won't fall for these. Struggled enough to get them to reverse charges when I took one of their specials but got charged full price. Even got a threatening SMS from one of their credit collectors because of it. How can you be behind on a prepaid service? Dstv seems to take that if for 3 months a subscription isn't paid in full it's 3 months behind where legally old debt is settled first. It's thus can't even be behind technically.

@KatieKim I'm wrong about the Orville S03, later episodes seen aren't woke and quite good serious space sci-fi so maybe try make a plan to see it.

Another unannounced change - from this week 174 BBC Lifestyle is on the Access Package, quite a good channel for that basic level so probably just a time-limited promo.
