Looks like loadshedding has claimed its 1st victim.

Decoder says the HDD needs to be formatted due to corruption, I click yes but it just says HDD is formatting and it will reboot.

It doesnt reboot, oh well.

Yep, this has been happening consistently with my 2A for months now ... sometimes it fixes itself, other times not.
My original Explora is still purring along nicely

Mid month:

1. 318 Da Vinci Kids being discontinued.

2. New streaming service;
From must-watch dramas to the very best reality series, Universal+, which is currently available in Spain, Brazil, Latin America and India, boasts a huge selection of full boxsets to binge, new shows and movies from popular linear channels Universal TV, E!, DreamWorks, Studio Universal and Telemundo.

DStv subscribers will be able to stream thousands of hours of compelling entertainment, including the SAFTA award-winning Celebrity Game Night, by visiting Catch Up on the DStv App or connected Explora and selecting Universal+.

Now all top sports channels (except Golf for some reason) have an endlessly revolving channel-identity logo, announcing that the FIFA soccer world cup kickoff starts in 50 days... what on earth is that never-ending and useless distraction about???

I think it's time I moved on..

Please look at the time slots "order" on the newer guide this morning;

BTW, anyone confused by the adult censoring of The Orville on 103 1Magic on some decoders? Try changing to the family soundtrack, that's where the adult soundtrack always is for this channel

Wow

DStv Now not working on Ubuntu, still fine on Windows.

One Ubuntu PC says it's a sharing violation, the other says it's a problem on their side.

One of my 2As is constantly on disk full now. Tried formatting via menu and front panel... no joy. Both has been giving problems over the past year or so when playing recordings. Will get stuck and then continue or the actual recording is a bit "corrupted" . Original picture is fine. Also happens sometimes when rewinding or pausing live video . Both decoders are under "decoder-care " , so will probably get them swopped out, IF they have 2As in stock

Did they remove the ability to remove a show under 'TV Shows You're Watching'? The ARC button used to work for me.

Both my decoders suffered the same fate (explora 2A and Explora 3A)
The way to solve this is to do front panel reformat of the HDD
1) Remove Power Cable.
2) Hold down the P+ button on the front panel of the decoder (do not release button).
3) Insert Power Cable.
4) Release the P+ button when the word “CODE” appears on the top right of the TV screen.
5) Press the following sequence of buttons P- P+ P- P+ , the TV screen will show “CODE: 0101” on the top right of the TV screen.
6) The decoder will start Formatting the HDD.
7) After the HDD Format completes, the decoder will reboot on its’ own and go to the last watched channel.

You can now access the decoder settings to do a reset to factory settings and format the hard disc

This solved it for me on both decoders

While we on the subject of failing HDD's, can one simply chuck in a new HDD/SSD and the decoder will make the partitions itself or is there manual work to be done in windows.

I know a long time ago I had to make 3 partitions on a HDD for my SD PVR, have things changed?

I found this regarding replacing the HDD

Streaming Dstv via chromecast it plays for exactly 1min,then dstv logo comes up. If playing on mobile device there is no issue.
Any thoughts?

I suspect they've upgraded their security as streaming for us works on Windows but still won't work on Ubuntu (and possibly other Linux platforms) with the message that we're supposedly streaming elsewhere.
Usage resets don't help.

Hopefully they're aware, though who knows these days..

I don't get it, it's my own fully paid package, no sharing no nothing. 60 seconds then wham.

Showmax has lost the plot today on my Explora. Hollywood is my normal selection, but now there's soccer promos, Nigerian(?) dramas, Afrikaans titles and some woke stuff included.
Intentional?

Anyone successfully using an Explorer with a SSD in it?

As loadshedding is a HDD killer, probably better to retrofit it with a SSD.

Still cannot cast Dstv via any Google Chromecast in my house, am I the only sucker?
