It's not so much a technical fault, but I've noticed that the embedded video player on the Supersport site is absolutely horrid. This is a screengrab of the highlights of the U20 Rugby World Cup match between SA and Argentina. It's impossible to watch in full screen.

yip, it's horrible

...and SuperSport doesn't respond to a single message you post/send them about anything

Trying to decide if I'm gonna pay for another couple of months, or wait and see a bit....

During the last week of June went from Access to Compact Plus. Within 2 days upgraded to Premium because of all the sport we're keen on in July.

End of July plan on downgrading all the way to EasyView (in case want to upgrade again next June / July for a month) ; no reconnection fee.

Also plan on increasing my LTE data so can start streaming other services more, and should still manage without having to go uncapped fibre (for still just over half the price of the slowest fibre option).

Allows me to keep options open while seeing how this change pans out.

I see there was another Explora update this week. It deleted all my CU+ downloads

Older decoders are still better.... bye Explora

I still have both my 2As (replaced with Ultras a while back) . Might have a bad spot or 2 on the disks, as a recording sometimes will stutter and then be fine again. Apart from that nothing wrong. I'm in Pretoria, so feel free to give me a shout . @KatieKim .. not sure whereabouts you stay ?
We took a drive out to Randburg and Multichoice successfully formatted the Explora 2. We only did that because I had e-mailed them and asked if the instructions I found on the internet were correct. When they came back they said to take it to Multichoice and if needed they would give a refurbished Explora for R750, which is a R100 more than a decoder, so we thought good idea. But just be warned to swap out is now R950. Except for the odd stutter it is working fine now. I'm wish we had taken the Explora 1 with as that hasn't found the signal.

I didn't think that the Multichoice had such a big setup out in Randburg. The staff was very nice and helpful as well.

Have never swapped a decoder in years gone by for one that was acceptable.

The "new" one always had another issue or two, so preferred (after a few swaps) to trash the one bought and buy a new one.

With the the prices of new Explora's, not as easy to I imagine .....

I think the current HD decoder we currently have will be the last they ever get me to buy ; satellite reliance here (this household) should be a thing of the past, fairly soon.

I've found the private second-hand market to be quite good, no failures so far.

"Refurbished" MC decoders stink, we've seen endless complaints through the years.

Yip, that's their main branch. Btw, I never only take one decoder even if the other one is fine. I make sure they have both decoders properly configured and working whenever I leave the local agency. Btw, my offer still stands if you want chuck out your Explora1 for a 2A

New issue.
Explora content was transferred by me, so did a format.
Now maintenance reboots don't load, tried 3 times. But normal soft & hard reboots are fine.

Other temp issues makes it look like the harddrive control is behind it.
Won't matter soon, as planned Explora is being permanently downgraded to Easyview with no PVR access.

Edit: Tried again, now it's working.

Has anyone put an SSD in their explora just for the lolz?

no but i did take the hard drive out of my explora before i threw it on the floor and kicked it to kingdom come (i had just cancelled) - and then i added the drive into my microserver and it became far more useful then ;)

Next issue:

(Is it time to laugh, cry or just kick the system clear across the room like the other guy?)

I recorded Who wants to be a millionaire? S4/E26 off 120. The Explora 2 won't let me access it because it is pg locked. Never in my life, until today, have I even looked at the parental control. Nothing is blocked. Ep27 of Who wants to be a millionaire is acceptable to the censoring Explora. Along with other actual non family rated shows. Does anybody know what has gone wrong? Is there a way to unblock this one episode. Need to know for future reference.

I don't have an Explora but what if you go into Parental Control in the Settings.

On my basic decoder I have an option to Personalise the Global Blocking etc.

You might find you have particular episodes set to block, in recorded shows, for some idiotic reason set by DStv.

I had to press the nos. "1 2 3 4" ro access Parental Control settings ; might be different for you ?

Just spent half an hour speaking to a call centre manager - it has taken 6 calls to get my basic downgrade done correctly :(

Enough of this backwards "service", when my credit runs out I'm done with this subscription.

So most of this week the Explora 2 has been operating badly. Live play hasn't been tracking well. The picture has been jerky, recording been a disaster even Catchup wasn't working well either.

This morning I wanted to see if Ghosts that I had recorded off Bbcbrit was watchable and found over night the playlist, all 13% of it had been deleted.Except for a folder that had a ghost episode of Fareed off CNN and another news talk show off BBC. I'm calling them ghost because I don't think anything was actually there but still took up 1% of the disk. My schedules were all gone as well.

The Explora 2 is now working fine. Live play is fine, a test recording worked and catchup is working.

I've had enough of all this but I'm not the only that uses the system, so I'm waiting on the majority to decide what they want to do but we cannot continue with the Explora 2 either way. This afternoon I'm going to try and swap the physical positions of 1 & 2 around and see if using Explora 2 cords helps the Explora 1 find the signal again.

I can't comment more recently concerning downgrades, but my 2 upgrades late last month worked flawlessly using their WhatsApp number.

The 1st was from Access to Compact Plus, then from that to Premium.

The pro-rata calc's, though I didn't check them to the cent, seemed more than reasonable enough for each upgrade, and no need to contact the call centre for any of it.

The channel changes literally took seconds to be made - a day or two before payment was required.

It remains to be seen if my downgrade via WhatsApp to either Access or EasyView (haven't yet decided which), last day of this month or 1st August, will go as smoothly ; I'm expecting it to

The only times I found the WhatsApp upgrade method to be a mess was when I tried accepting their promotions - ie. upgrade to the next package and supposedly receive channels for the one above that .... I found inconsistencies both with amounts calculated & missing channels.

Attached are screenshots of the WhatsApp options, for next time to try, should you stick with DStv ?

Have you ideas on where to next .....?

Thanks but none of it is unfamiliar.
I was involved with an online public group - we were selected to try help DStv clients on their forum. Even that managed to get completely messed up, it's possibly the worst company service-wise I've ever come across. This thread is utterly full of examples.

Personally I don't want their BS anymore, simple as that.

I have alternative usage of DStv but it's complicated. Will have to do until I find the rest of what I need online.

Good luck with your efforts.
