Defective New Scirocco R

Didn't you have a huge fight with the dealership a couple of years back?

Nope, I use Thorp in Paarl and they are excellent.

Despite that the vehicle will be out of warranty next year so then I will take it to my local mechanic. Can't complain about the service I get from GM but if I don't have to use them I'm not going to. Dealers will be stealers.

I apologise for the lack of updates guys. I have been unwell and honestly did not have the energy last week to update the various forums.

The Scirocco is imported as its manufactured in Portugal. From this experience and the stories that people have shared with me I've realised that VWSA is the problem here. They're incredibly stubborn and only take some form of action when customers go to greater lengths to fight them.

The lastest news is that there was a meeting held between VWSA and the dealership this past Friday to discuss a proposal. I was informed that the outcome of that meeting will be confirmed by today as the proposal needed to go to a higher level at VWSA for approval.

I will keep you guys updated once I receive feedback from VW. Thanks again for the support :)

So the VIN on that car starts with TW-T1?
Thank goodness mine starts with W0 <- built in Germany.

I checked up the VIN when I received the car and it's made in Portugal. If I remember correctly I think the 11th digit indicates the assembly plant where it was made.

You have a VW?
No, much better, just below Mercedes to be honest :D

Very few VWs in SA are built in Germany, most of them come from cheap VW sweat shops in Czech (Skoda) and Spain/Portugal (SEAT). Even worse, Uitenhage...

I double checked now for VW's its the 11th digit for the plant where the vehicle is assembled. My VIN starts with WVW... which indicates Germany as the manufacturer but the 11th digit breaks it down more specifically to the region of assembly.

I used this online source. It could be specific to VW but its accurate for all the other codes in my VIN.

Would you mind posting the link to page you got the VIN details from? I had a page once, but can't find it anymore...

If your VIN starts with WVW it's Germany. Digit 11 will probably be W which is Wolfsburg.

We recently worked with VW VIN numbers for work, so spent some time looking into this.

EDIT: Fixed WVW in combination with Digit 11 = Germany. Might be V thinking about it now.

Digit 11 is V which is Portugal according to the table in the link I posted. All Scirocco's are assembled in Portugal even the previous 2.0 TSI I had. I also belong to sciroccocentral.co.uk and its widely known that the Roc's are assembled there.

The WVW does confuse the situation though. I'm thinking its more related to the Brand/Manufacturer and their origin.

The first 11 digits of the VIN is WVWZZZ13ZEV......
