The short answer to your question is no, the speed is not shared, each connection will run at full speed.

The has been some rhetoric around us throttling the heck out of the speeds.
Let me assure you this is not the case.

As this is the first true uncapped product, we have no doubt that there will be some who will try to shag the connection, to the detriment of everyone else. What we have implement is not a limited speed service. We offer a guaranteed minimum quality of service, so as to ensure that if everyone is online at once, that each individual will be given their fair share of the pipe.

The packages are 'unthrottled' after hours. In fact, in the sense that you're using it, we're 'unthrottled' during hours too.

Ok..... lots of pages, lots of info.

The burstable allows you to 'burst' to double your minimum when network conditions allow it. The test chillies have had burstable to 4mb.


Reading some of these posts it is clear that there are an expectation gap...a 256 packages was never supposed to give you 4 meg line speed, yet people are still hoping / demanding that. I think part of the problem is Digichilli own communication and part is hear-say and part is just plain wishful thinking...

EDIT : However, 3-4 days ago smtp.digichilli.com stopped relaying my @telkomsa.net emails. Which is *very* frustrating! I emailed DC about it late yesterday afternoon, and they only replied at 1pm today to day they are looking into it. And nothing since then

It seems like things are going much better for most people at the moment. however, im on a 4meg line and havnt seen anything hit near 30k for a day or two. torrents hardly reach 5k and youtube doesnt work at all. it seems like their shaper is working.. maybe a little bit too well.
 
Yup, is it not possible for us 4MB users to get an average of like 150-170 KB/s(newservers) ? That is still only 33% of our max download speed and right now, it seems as though our 4MB lines really are useless because we are only getting about 10KB/s more than our 384 counterparts .
 
I think you guys should maybe post part of your IPs with line performance updates, someone else suggested that earlier in the thread. Maybe just the first 3 numbers i.e. xxx.xxx.xxx.*

Wondering if it's different IP ranges that are having performance differences as it seems like there are conflicting views on performance. Doesn't really matter though I suppose.

Then you should buy a package more suited to your line speed. You have bought a 256k package, and you shouldn't get any more than that unless there is excess bandwidth in the network

For R1000? Then why don't I just get an axxess account? where I can download 650GB + ? That's why I bought into DigiChilli , because of the fact that the bursting is so unique and no other company offers it, but when bursting is 10 KB/s more than the guaranteed speed, it just does not make it worth while . No, I definitely do not expect full line speed but when it did burst into the 200-250 I was extremely content...

It will only burst when there is excess bandwidth, and with everyone trying to download crazy amounts at the moment, there isn't much excess bandwidth.

Seriously, this is a R300 account you are on. Even with the awful speeds that people were getting in Dec and early jan, they still managed to download on average 50gb. So if you want faster speeds, pay up

And yes, if you want higher speeds, axxcess might be a better option
