For me (on a 384k line on Spicy) RS has gone to hell the last few days (when it is working it is getting around 3-5K), and my browsing goes from being perfectly acceptable to completely stopped every few minutes. I haven't tried Xbox Live yet, but that is because these speeds are giving me the fear. Me = not a happy camper at the moment
Yip i agree with this in full, Digichilli are still very new, and i think have lots of tweaking to do, but im happy so far but i dont use this service for any form of buisness yet, just my own things![]()
Once again, it appears if the 384k users are getting left out here.
General web = SLOW
Streaming audio = SLOW
Streaming video = SLOW
Rapidshare = Slow
Torrents = Slow
Single thread Downloads = SLOW (why has this never been addressed???)
I can list the speed for each, but they all sub 80kbs/10Kbs.
Why are faster line users still getting better speeds than lower ones. Surely we should all be getting our GUARNTEED minimum, bursting above, when there is unused bandwith on their network.
Everytime DC make changes, it appears to effect the service negitavly. There attempts to imporove the network seem to be failing, at least for me they are...
Just repeat that line again to yourself , " Why are faster line users getting better speeds than lower speed users" . We are also not getting great speeds compared to how much we pay. And if you look at it, we are getting +-25% of our line speed which therefore means that we are only getting 25% of our money's worth. 384 Users, even with say 20KB/s , you are getting about 55% of your money's worth...

It really depends on what you want to use it for. If you're planning to run a business off of it, or do any form of gaming... probably not. Or rather, not yet.
If you're wanting to download a lot and have it come down fast... again, probably not. Though mileage may vary depending on what package you take.
However, if you're content to let things take their time but want a solution where you're not worrying about being capped, then yes (this is what I use it for...)
Your line speed should not determin how much you get out of it, your PACKAGE speed should.
Just because you pay extra for your Telkom line, why should that enable you to get better speeds out of DC, even if we on the same package.
I have no problem with the unused bandwith going to the users with faster lines, but the minimum is still not being delivered. How does that make it fair to the people with lower line speeds? Your logic is flawed.
