All broadband companies operate with this "up to" clause. Those of us that understand the business aspects of how broadband is delivered all thought the guaranteed thing was kinda crazy. The only time you will ever see a guaranteed speed clause is with excessively expensive diginet lines or the like.
The thing is, they gautranteed a min of 256K on a 384K line...they took into account network conditions etc etc. They still couldnt pull off the 256K though....sadly.

saw they changed the site info, but FAQ still states burtsting from 256k

Well, I can tell you one thing - their are draft regulations out to ensure QOS for cellular and broadband providers...very soon these guys will be forced to provide what they state. For too long the SA community has been taken for a ride by false advertisers.

Yep, and that why it's so good they are altering the details of what they say they offer to better reflect what they are actually finding viable to offer.

I dunno, Telkom does state minimum speeds. So do all other uncapped ISPs iirc. I find what DC has done completely shocking:sick:

Seeing that everything else is broken, here's some commentary - SA 74/1 after 27.4 - Smith 37 : Amla 14 overs...Last Batsman AG Prince c Swann b Broad 19 :)

Average user usage has far exceeded predicted usage. Until user usage drops to reasonable levels they won't be able to allow higher speeds. The reason for this is mostly demographic related, so in time as more average users sign up thing should get a lot better for us heavy users.

So in other words, they claim to be able to pull a rabbit out of a hat, when they can't manage that they then manage to pull a hamster out yet still maintain that it's a rabbit?

They should've been 100% certain of what they were capable of before going to market and wasting their clients time.

It's not so simple, isps use an oversell method and it relies on predicted usage patterns, the problem with predictions is you don't know if they will come true until you have real usage data.

Thats why the guaranteed thing was so dumb.
