DigiChilli January Status and feedback

Hi All
Just a quick update on my side:

Browsing - Sweet (pages load very fast)
Pidgin - Still disconnects randomly
Youtube - Streaming has increased but still not great
Http downloads - 20 - 40kbps
Torrents - Dead (0.1 - 1kbps)
 
Well this shaping has killed online gaming for me this holiday cant get into any of my favorite mmo,s or online fps,s

Come someone please explain this to me, I've heard a lot about shaping. On the DC website it says:
It's affordable, uncapped and unthrottled

Is it in fact throttled?

Not based on usage like other "uncapped" accounts. However it is (or aims to be) LIMITED to somewhere around the package speed you're actually paying for.

Also shaping is not the same as throttling at all.
 
If I may ask what sort of monthly usage are you guys getting on your uncapped accounts?

I managed to get 39.666 GB total throughput (6.7 Up and 32.9 Down) over 17 Days, 8 hours, 32 minutes and 45 seconds :D, even with all the ups and downs and other issues. Oh and a lot of Highveld storms making me unplug for hours on end. Not bad for a month's freebie (thanks to the Twitter competition)

So far, this month, I've done 2.3GB (2d10h53m23s). Paid my dues and have it set up as my default account on my router for my 3 housemates to use and abuse. Keeping my Afrihost account for PPPOE connections (router supports PPPOE with passthrough) to play WoW and update specific apps such as PeerBlock, that seem to take forever on DC. Oh, and do remote support from home if need be.

So thus far, I've replaced my 10GB Imaginet account with 2 accounts, which together cost less than the Imaginet one, giving me access to a general uncapped service for day to day use and abuse, and a specific use one for when I need a performance connection.
 
37kb/s on news server constantly. Steam up and running, browsing good. I'm on 384kb line
I think i can say this now, Dave and the guys things are back on the boil, thank you and congrats on the network. its still not 100% but its 80-90% there i think

torrents is not working,and I desperately need to download something should I get a astraweb account?Is the speeds constant with digichilli?Please advise.

I too need my Torrents to work... and I don't feel I need to pay for anything else... Hopefully soon Torrents will be working like it should... atleast the uncapped at work works good with Torrents... so I at least have an backup plan... but then again i've got another week off so not complaining about that... hehehe :D
 
DC is flying except for torrent, use rapidshare or similar. works great!!
