DigiChilli January Status and feedback

Im on 384 spicy. My downs (http) max out at 17kB/s. Torrents don't work at all.
The only place hot at the moment is under my collar. I'll just squeeze as much out of the
R240 bucks as I can before I "cool down", no wait, Im pretty much ice cold already.

Speeds have dropped slightly to the mid 20's sometimes going to about 30kB/s. Even at these speeds DC is going good & stable :)

Update: Speeds are back to normal. 35kB/s to 45kb/s on HTTP and 28kB/s to 38kB/s on torrents. Oh happy days these are =')

Yup.

Keeps telling me my username/password is incorrect.

Better phone DC had that yesterday and today. They disconnected it for 'non payment' even though they had been paid. I hope this isn't becoming a DC trend. Prehaps it's to stop the free loaders

Speeds are stuck at a nice constant 30kB/s with bursts up to 35kB/s :) I doubt it'll stay like that forever.

Took your advice and phoned them, turned out it was the same thing.

Well, this is the second time it's happened to me.

What if I didn't have a backup account? How the fark do they expect me to contact them and say "Hang on, I've already paid. Why did you cut me off?"

Not acceptable.

It isn't accetable not in the slightest. If this happened in the first month it would be understandable, but 3/4 months in and they haven't sorted out their accounts? DC is getting better but still have a long way to go.

I believe they are doing this because their are probably X amount of users who haven't paid but are still connected. I think if you pay via EFT then yes it might look like you haven't paid, but thats why we send in proof of payment.

DC is at full speed for me (except single threaded HTTP downloads) but this really let me down I hope this the last time it happens or I should say it better be the last time. :)

Yip so far its cruising without an issue, it has been a very good month

Well I've used all 3, but I stopped using axxess when I moved to Screamer, and I stopped using Screamer when I moved to DC, so I can't really comment on how 2 of the 3 currently rate themselves.

But never had an issue with Axxess, the price tag was the only thing that made me move. Always available, always reliable.

My time that I was at Screamer (left them end of November), was horrendous, don't know if they have improved. I could not access one of my mail accounts, and had about 80% downtime in the 15 days I was with them.

On DC, its been a very very bumpy ride, December started good but went downhill, January was a good month, February was a nightmare speed wise, but so far March is purring like a kitten.

So I can honestly say, Axxess if you have the capital available, and DC if you don't, but the whole seacom connection is still shakey, so unfortunately it means there will be speedbumps on a DC connection, but as with all things it takes time an patience, and it does get better

Yeah, from what i have been reading, i think your suggestion is Spot on, thanks Gothan!!.
So In general would i be right in saying at the moment:

-Axxess seems to have great Client Service, and an overall good stable Line, and probably the better option if you can afford it.

-DC is relatively new on the block and working through its issues, by the sounds of things, this month has been a good run. Is there a reason it has been generally better, does anyone know?? like upgraded lines/servers/ hardware etc...??

-Ive only heard bad things about Screamer, a colleague in my office recently got screamer and they are terribly not impressed by its performance.

Yip thats it. But I have to say, so far I've had only one month on DC where I downloaded less than I've downloaded from Axxess, and that was the dreaded Feb.

On the reason why DC is better in March, I have not the foggiest, maybe it cause everyone left that was unhappy and now they have bandwidth to spare hehehehehe, hope that is not the case though

EDIT : But I have to add that DC is not really there for normal browsing and single thread http downloads, its a bit slow on those fronts, but if you have large volumes to download (especially from the news servers) then DC is currently perfect

DC seems a bit sluggish today. Speeds are good but drop down to below 10kB/s for a second or two but then jump back up to 38-44kB/s. Maybe it's just mediafire having these speeds issues. Either DC still is doing somewhat good.

DC main flaw is stabilty and at the moment things aren't improving but they have definately come a long way since December.

Very unstable here as well, international sites seem to load little longer than local sites. Gmail takes a wile to open.

How can you guys be saying that Digichilli is working great. They no longer burst your speeds and the browsing speeds are very dissapointing. I was on the spicy package, basically just cancelled because i never got more than 25kb/s on my downloads.

If you take 256/8 = 32kb/s --- that should be the absolute minimum speed you should get. I don't get it. It started at Minimum 256kb/s now its up to 256 kb/s.

For R300 a month, it may be a good price for downloaders only who are willing to wait a lifetime for something, however for downloading and the occasional browsing, not good enough i'm afraid.
