DigiChilli January Status and feedback

How can you guys be saying that Digichilli is working great. They no longer burst your speeds and the browsing speeds are very dissapointing. I was on the spicy package, basically just cancelled because i never got more than 25kb/s on my downloads.

If you take 256/8 = 32kb/s --- that should be the absolute minimum speed you should get. I don't get it. It started at Minimum 256kb/s now its up to 256 kb/s.

For R300 a month, it may be a good price for downloaders only who are willing to wait a lifetime for something, however for downloading and the occasional browsing, not good enough i'm afraid.

Read a few pages back and you'll see bursting is back with a vengence. For the first time in nearly a month DC is unstable. Actually it's a bareble kind of stable to be honest. I don't mind waiting a few seconds longer to load a page or wait 10 minutes longer to download a large file as long as I get it. I'll be the first to admit DC sucked the big one the past couple months, but they HAVE gotten better and continue to do so on a daily basis and that's why I'll stick with them.

If DC get their own news server out and manage to keep speeds above 32kB/s I think no one can deny they have a killer service. It really does suck that you didn't experiencing what we are now. Hopefully in a month or so if DC remains stable and at good speeds I hope you'll join them again. Maybe one day SA will have 1st World Broadband but for now I'll settle for DC. :)

Speeds are still unstable but I'm getting full line speed most of the time. I wonder if it's DC or another Telkom/SAIX problem.

Well, I have noticed a VERY great improvement since january. But still its not nearly up to what they offered in the first place.

Torrents running at 36KB/s at the moment, so I guess the no bursting is a rumour.

Things have stabilised it seems. Still had a good day with DC even when things weren't so hot. :D

R300 package
1.91MB Down
0.16MB UP

You lucky.... :p I hope you do limit your speeds somewhat but I can't blame you if you don't

Sigh...WoW is still unplayable on DC...

I don't care what anyone says, I will continue fighting for playable online games on a DC Spicy account -serious face-

Very unstable here as well, international sites seem to load little longer than local sites. Gmail takes a wile to open.

having a k@k time for the last 24 hrs .....can dohttp downloads but browsing is so slow and lots of time outs....:wtf::cry:

Yip also noticed browsing was a bit off from yesterday afternoon, nntp downloads are flying though

I hear the opposiste where I'm based - guys seem to be downloading an exxcess of 60 gigs per week.
How is this possible?

Nope, their browsing went pear shaped yesterday, but noticed on the forum that it also happened at screamer at the same time, so don't know if its a seacom problem or what.

Browsing and single threaded downloads will be crawling, not sure about multi threaded downloads though, should be flying, I know nntp downloads were flying last night, almost got constantly above 40Kbs on a 384 line

That sucks have you tried any local game servers with any success?

Not possible on a 384k line. They must be using a 4mb line and getting good speeds seeing as DC hasn't limit package speeds yet.

Download: 0.11
Upload: 0.9
On Spicy account

This normal???

That WAS normal I suggest you phone DC and make them get your account get better speeds. (Don't let them say there is a problem and it'll be fixed shortly or anything like that. Just make sure they check and fix your speed problem)

HTTP multi threaded is still perfect single thread not so much. Torrents are good averaging 25kB/s in uTorrent. I also noticed yesterday someone from SAOL also was having problems so I think it could either be SEACOM or another SAIX/Telkom screw up. Things are 90% normal on my side except the occasional dropped download.

@Sally it'll get better it always does :)

Xineox ... yes folks are all on a 4 meg lines ... dunno if its maybe screwing it up for everyone else.
I'm thinking of joining again end of this month .....

Whatsup ?!!?

Question: Does the Digichilli accounts still support 2 conncurrent connections?
I know someone said something about it falling away. I phoned them now and
the response was 2 concurrent connections on all of the accounts are supported?

Is the above true and correct or am I living in the twilight zone?

If you check the website out the following is said:

Spicy (256kbps, with 1 connection) at R300 per month

Mild (384kbps) at R500 per month.

Medium (512kbps) at R1 000 per month.

Hot (1024kbps) for R3 000 per month.

Its not like they are saying that the Mild , Medium and Hot accounts are not con-current?

Help!

Since 14H40 telkom is broken.

International access is dead for me. Seems other ISPs using telkom are also having problems.

DC is working.

DC is working but is seriously unstable, pretty much from around the same time Telkom broke (again). Thanks i was wondering what was going on with DC and now I know :)

Yes they do. It was brought up a while ago and still to this day no one has complained that their concurrent connection has been taken away from them. The concurrent connections are supposed to be for the Mild package and up, but it wouldn't surprise me if the Spicy package allows you to have a 2nd concurrent connection. (If DC can't limit speeds to the packages then how are they going to stop concurrent connections :erm:)

If you need anything else just ask :)

concurrant connections is still working the whole time....? Mine is.
Another one of the DC rumours that some forumite mentions and then everybody believes like the no bursting rumour...

Seems I'm clueless today...I must have run out of international bandwidth with telkom... :o:whistle:

That said, I've been having serious teleporting problems in Secondlife again, with the DC account, for the last two days.

If I use telkom the problem disappears. Please look into this DC, since the uncapped account is of no use if I cannot teleport properly.

The MyConnection PC tests show a very sickly supply that barely qualifies as bandwidth...Which appears to be limited to 115kbps...with an average speed of 14KB.
