DigiChilli January Status and feedback

Hehe! :D Yes, this the crunch moment for DC.

I'm going to try MWEB 512k since my old line cannot go higher and compare the way Secondlife plays.

Unless DC can match the price, speeds and quality, I'll move to MWEB at month end (or sooner since it's pro rata), until an even better offer comes along, as the year progresses, more cables come online and the war heats up.

DC will now have to drop the 256k product.

We are now moving forward at full speed. :D

Cant believe YOU'RE leaving DC. Now, who will keep DC users motivated?? ;-)

Well, I said I'd use them for at least 3 months, since they needed time to get the service working well for everyone and it's good for competition to back a newcomer.

They have a pretty decent service most of the time and as I have pointed out always, telkom is often below the paid for speed also, as are many ISPs and their services also break pretty often.

All in all DC is a working ISP, but I want more speed at the same price. I'll get double the speed at R299 from MWEB.

I wish all at DC the very best and hope that they do compete with MWEB, because I would rather have DC remain in the market.

The MWEB uncapped thread already has complaints about speed and I'll be doing tests all the time on the service to compare it with DC and telkom.

It is after all our duty as MyBB members to police the providers and hold them to certain standards.

Come on DC, drop the spicy price, or remove the product and lets start at 384k.

Match MWEBs prices, speeds and quality and I'm back with DC ;)

LOL I think DC have no choice but to match MWEB's offer now seeing as VOX just undercut them (albeit only R10) and now Afrihost has said they WILL beat that price! I never would have thought anyone would even come close to DC's pricing and I think the next few weeks will be interesting to say the least ;)

Yes, I just read about the other ISPs. :D

I think, since Afrihost has my heart, (and all my details from before DC) it's them I will sign with for uncapped. ;)

Even if they only match MWEB/VOX I'll probably give them a try too ;) DC started all this and in a way it's sad that they can't compete because their network just isn't stable enough - who knows maybe one day DC will be the best and I hope they make it :)

Well said ;-)

Sorry , but I still think DC sucked from Day 1 (was a spicy subscriber for 6 weeks and hated every day of it)

Sigh,

Ok DIGIWilly isn't worth it...

Packet loss- 10-99%, that is worse than my gprs vodacom connection that sometimes gets as bad as 1%

ping local 200ms? Why is it that high?

Ping international- 1500ms? unusable

All websites have timeouts, some international websites just wont load at all.

Online gaming? hah! good luck...

downloading an update for battlefield bad company 2, just the update is impossible. It keeps saying the connection to the server is lost.

So I try to contact their customer support, 1st try e-mail: no reply for a day. Call them person says give me my username and they will get back to me: I ask if they want my phone number and they put the phone down into my ear??????????????????????????

send them another e-mail

another day has passed. not a peep from them, well then shove your chilli I will send you an request for an refund and buy an mweb account :/

Also had the packet loss problem but now it seems to be fixed and downloaded the Battlefield Bad Company 2 patch (tho it was slow took 3/4 hours). I hope DC improves more before the end of April. :)

dont go by how the things started...they are much much better now :)

me luv DC...

will have to wait and see hows the MWeb experience

I also am taking the wait and see option but I don't think MWEB/VOX/Afrihost will be the only ones with cheap uncapped for too long. Right now DC is the 3rd cheapest and if you you want price/performance DC doesn't have it right now. I really want DC to succeed and hope they do, but if they want to go any further they need to offer at least a cheaper package with a guaranteed speed of 384k.

DC has until the end of this month to make big changes or I believe DC will not last. Good Luck DC :)

Congrats to DC for starting the uncapped war... it's a real pity that it didn't work out for them, IMO they just couldn't keep up the support and service levels. Prolly too many people on the system. Hopefully they will settle with some clients running to Mweb... spread it a little thinner and perhaps their staff compliment will manage it better. Things may just get better for DC peeps.

Hehehe! Everyone must not count DC out already. :D

People choose a provider, based on past experience, word of mouth and emotions.

DC, Screamer, SAINET, SAOL, MyISP and the rest, merely need to resell MWEB and the playing field is almost level again.

There will be very little exodus from ISP to ISP, since the majority of people will remain with the ISP they prefer, for a variety of reasons.

These ISPs are then without risk, able to make an actual concrete profit, from a reseller agreement.

Their other products, which are unique to each, will then compliment their MWEB based products and comfortably separate the ISPs, into their usual, particular niches.

what I don't understand about DC and it is only with DC not with Telkom or Axxess is that there can not be 3 pc's on line at the same time surfing etc.....as soon as one of my sons puts their laptops on I am buggered....I can't do anything not even get into MyBB......:erm::whistle:

so yeah I am going to try out MWeb :o

I'd wait on that just for a week or so. I got a sneaky suspision that Afrihost might just surprise us all with an awesome package :D Plus it seems even MWEB is starting to get congested so I'll wait and hop on to another ISP with less users. I do hope DC manage to come back swinging before the end of this month. They are good but we need great and I know they can be great.

Let's just say I think SA is finally catching up with the rest of Africa :o

I bid you goodbye too, after huge amounts of patience and a paltry 50 mb's of downloads over the long weekend your time is up. I don't see this company staying up, if they can't even keep your connection up? :wtf:
