DigiChilli January Status and feedback

Finally got a hold of DC. Their lines were down and they are installing new ones, so if you need to get a hold of them now is the time - Hopefully you will get through too.

Speeds are crap because of Telkom issues it seems Saix & the current Telkom fault are to blame. Speeds should return to normal, but you never know.

If anyone gets anymore details now just update everyone here please. :)

I have a 384 line and took the nternet addict for R499 (R260 more) and I have speeds of 40kB/sec, not bad so far.

The problems started before the telkom issues, it started the moment they decided to use the shaper (spit) again. And I know customer service is not DC strong point, but damn me they could have made use of the network status on the website to at least tell people of the phone problems.
 
Just spoke to DC Support Centre People...the speeds are heavily shaped since the last two weeks...and will be like this...

but...i am not even getting any speeds on anything besides http. I mean we shud at least get 40Kbps+ at all times...not 0-7Kbps...

so...bye bye DC from me.

Let me get this right. DC suppport center told you that they have infact been shaping speeds for the last 2 weeks and will continue to be shaped like this from now on?

I have to say either that support guy is completely wrong, or he meant that they have been trying to shape the accounts for the past 2 weeks and that the accounts will be shaped from now on. I can't buy them saying speeds will be staying like this - I call miscommunications on this one :erm:

Or at least I hope :o

They are shaping the accounts...http browsing is given the highest preference...and the accounts will run at their respective speeds...so Spicy...can go UPTO 384kbps...

Lets see what the future holds for us...
 
XineoX's post made me hope for an actual solution where as amarrr's has left me fearing they're leaving it as things stand right now which would be very verrrrrry bad. Most sites even HTTP maxes out at 9kBs (with barely split seconds of higher speeds) and times out constantly leaving you with corrupted files....assuming they finish at all....

Okay so basically normal shaping that's much better. All along DC has been like that for Spicy I don't think anyone has gotten over 40KB/s on a spicy account (though I did burst here and there to about 45KB/s often'ish). I don't care if they shape us a bit - it would still be better than this! As long as I get decent speeds from rapidshare, megaupload & other file hosting sites then it's all good.

I got the feeling it's more shaping torrents than anything else, but only time will tell. DC seriously needs a mybb rep :erm:

What are you getting those speeds with?
I tried Rapidshare and normal HTTP at 2AM and I was still getting between 1-9KB/s.
 
Speeds are looking better for me this morning. Still not as great as before but definately looking better, but don't stop just here DC! Fix ya **** :p lol

Will update later after my download finally finishes :erm:
 
Getting around 20-40KB/s with normal http but Rapidshare is practically dead.
It's a step in the right direction, let's hope they ease up the shaping on Rapidshare, Megaupload, etc.

Edit: That was short lived, back to 1KB/s.

Astraweb is going at 4K.

It was fairly fast for a few days but since last night it has been close to dead.
 
It was getting better and now it has just flopped. Was getting around 25KB/s on single threaded downloads now I get 7KB/s. GMail is so slow it's painful, IM barely works, P2P is dead. WTH?!

DC fix it already!! This is why you should test and make sure your product works before you start selling it :sick:

Thing is the product DID work. It's been fantastic for months...............now that the shaper is on it's shot to hell..........but try get them to realise that.
 
If we strike do we get to turn over our modems and throw around the cords?! :D

Digi still slow as ever today but at least speeds from mediafire single threaded downloads are around 10KB/s :o
