DigiChilli January Status and feedback

Straatkat is the only one going on about that. Necromancer was moaning over a fairly long period of time, and so Dave pointed out to necro that he was on a free account and he had done over 50 gigs.

Mountain out of a mole hill i would say.

Please note, that my "moaning", as you would like to put it, was more about their quality of service and unstable network rather than how much I had actually downloaded. I couldnt actually care less at how much I had downloaded that month or the month before. I was complaining about downtime, slowness of browsing and downloads and all the issues that they have experienced. Yes, I was on a free account, but surely I should still be on the same boat as everyone else? they dont seperate the free users from the paying users. An account is an account, it either works or it doesnt, and it hasnt.

They still have no right to disclose my usage stats to the public without my consent. Thats a bad move on their part. Not to mention, they shouldnt be using that as an excuse...

you're gonna have a bit of an issue tho when DL from say a 384 line hey?

but if u DL from say me on a 4meg it will max out to 4megs

I dont mind dude - if we score, we score ... its all good. :)
Uncapped = no worries. No top-up's @ R29 a shot .... nice.
Here's hoping ...

Will read up on the DC plus biz now.

Working nicely here... Well except torrents = D.E.A.D

Luckily what I am unable to get through p2p I found through http :D

digichilli.com still has the "network issue identified - working on resolution"

Any ideas as to what the issue is and ETA of solution?

You were right to maon about the network stability, it has been well below par, but the fact that you got 50 gigs for free should count for something. Thats R1500 worth of bandwidth in afrihost gigs.

Now the question is, when last did a friend of yours give you R1500, and if he did, how do you think he deserves to be treated.

Just to clarify, i really understand the source of your frustrations. The digichilli experience has been painful for me too. What started out as pure glee quickly became a frustrating experience. If it continues to go down i will change providers, but in the meantime i'm going to appreciate that digichilli is giving me R1500(afrihost) worth of bandwidth for R200.

Imagine how easy the capacity issues would be if they started charging R40 a gig. Remember, thats what everyone else does, and thats why their networks are so stable.

You are sadly still not "getting it" and that is the biggest problem...forget about gigs downloaded and cost per gigabyte, it is irrelevant...

If you really want to defend Digichilli, then simply state this, you got a free account that entitled you to free bandwidth and speed, no guarantees regarding speed nor stability. On that bases then, he has no right to moan. That would make him a beta tester...they don't have the right to moan nor complain, just report errors.

It's not the most important factor, which is stability, but it's certainly not irrelevant when the digichilli product exists amongst a sea of per gig isp's.

The 50 gig number also correlates directly with uptime, especially with 384Kbps users.

That line of thinking has been mentioned many times. Remember, this is an old discussion. Clearly the test users have no right to moan, and should only report errors.

HTTP download at 2kBps. Peerblock not updating. Browsing a bit slow. Torrents still not working...

I appreciate that I was given a trial account, and that im still using this trial account. On the other hand, you cannot call me a "beta tester" now because the beta testing phase is over, they have officially launched their product to the public. I'v stated before, I will continue to use their trial account until they have either disabled it, causing me to move to another ISP since im still not happy with their service OR they fix their issues and start providing decent service which I would be willing to pay R300, then and ONLY then will I pay for an account. I, unlike some people here, am not willing to fork out R300 for a non working service.

I'm a 4meg line and my speeds have dropped. Even multi-threaded http downloads have dropped to between 5 and 20kB/s. Im not complaining though - i'm getting what i paid for. I also noticed my IP has changed has changed to 41.66.xx.xx so im thinking DC got some new hardware and is having another go at the shaping - not that i really know anything about all this. I imagine since im not getting crazy fast speeds anymore that those of you with 384 lines should see some improvement soon.
PPPoE authentication problems also seem to be a thing of the past. Even though things seem bleak at the moment I think things are about to get alot better.

I am also a 4 meg user, u see, u shouldnt be between 5 - 20kbs, u should be between 32 - 60kbs, thats what DigiChilli's spicy package is promoting. A minimum of 256k which is 32kbs and then the bursting of up to 512k which is 64kbs. Lets also not forget to mention when I asked CambodiaDave in a pm if the bursting allows up to full line speed, he said its up to 4mb. This is unfortunately not the case... So then why did Dave tell me that? was that just another marketing scam to get me to sign up?
