why does no one from DC post here?? i thought that was what the reason this thread was created for??
I'd like to know whats the update on cheapernews news server...
 
the still seems to be a couple of issues with DC my side, anybody else?

Network
We are still having intermittent network issues.

Cheapernews
I'm waiting for the legal dept to get back to me on this issue. So far, I have not had any legal correspondence on this issue. We view this as a high priority although not critical. We'll escalate this to critical within the next 24 hours if not resolved.

Packages and speeds
People should be receiving their package speeds at this stage. For those that ran at 4Mb/s it may appear that they've hit a wall. They've just hit the package throttling wall. If this is not the case, please mail me.

Torrents
Torrents are off the 1-2KB/s mark. It should get to 15-20KB/s depending on seeds and package. Not quite there yet but better I trust.

FTP
Any issues?

Gaming
PS3 and Xbox stuff hasn't been specifically addressed as yet. The current latency on the link is keeping us away from this.
Steam should be ok. SL is better but still kicks me out. We are still working on them. They're mostly hiding their servers.

Call Centre
The VoIP provider is not playing ball. We are addressing this. Quality of calls are bad enough for our staff not to be able to hear clients. Please be patient with them. Skype voice and chat is sometimes better as communication.

Support emails
Emails to support at digichilli dot com should be receiving regular answers. Copy me on any emails that you've sent that you have not had a direct response to please.

thanks for the update, think this will go a long way to help people understand what must still be done. Is it possible to get another 1 or 2 during the day, just to see how things are progressing?
 
Thanks for the update Dave, I have one issue, not major, can work around it currently. My issue is that if I use my gmail account (not the web interface), and I try to send from thunderbird, it just never sends the mail. Looks like for some reason, it just cannot find the smtp server (works on axxess account).

Other than that it all is flying for me

All seems to be great on my side except smtp aint working on any mail...does DigiChilli have an SMTP server that i can use? no mail is going out but its coming in fine. on other ISP it works fine.

I just restarted my router and now things ain't good.....browsing is awful again some pages just ain't loading......my GTalk is not connecting.....http downloading is awful.....

I think it was smtp.digichilli.co.za or maybe it was .com? hmmm
 
I'll give this a bash when I get home, but thanks a million for the update Dave :D

15-20kb/s on a torrent will be just great ... much better than the 0.1 - 1.2kb/s recently.

Uhm.... FTP is worse now than what it was yesterday..... it's pretty much stalled now. FDM is stuck at 7KBps or lower...
 
I'm still only getting at best 6kB/s - even when I have a torrent with more than 100 seeds and with nothing else connected to the line.

My multithreaded downloads ran fine last night (around 90kB/s) and from about 7:00 this morning started dropping and has now settled around 30kB/s.

My Xbox Live still does not connect but when I connect with my Axxess account I am able to connect without difficulty (i.e. not a router configuration issue)

Individual browsing pages seem to run at around 6-8kB/s which is slow but bearable

Average speeds so far for January:
01/01 71.4kB/s
02/01 106.5kB/s
03/01 97.5kB/s
04/01 77.0kB/s
05/01 31.1kB/s
06/01 31.3kB/s
07/01 57.9kB/s

I calculated the speeds by dividing the kilobytes downloaded by the online time from http://userstats.adsl.saix.net

My bad If i knew you had probs with Cheapernewz you could have used my Astraweb account over December - I cancelled it and had plenty of days left to use ...

http downloads are dead my side. anybody else having issues with this?
 
got those little dotted circles going round and round again :twisted: and before this menopausal woman becomes sane I am off to shave off all my hair and dye my head red and then stand in Bosman drive and see if any one mistakes me for a robot.......:whistle::p:D
