Yes, but they have offered a refund to anyone that feels they did not get any service/bandwidth use out of a paid for account. That, I feel, absolves them of any "evil" intentions.

They are doing their best, at a loss, to bring this baby into the world.

I will watch it and participate, like with the birth of my daughter.

We know she will stumble and life will throw obstacles in her way...But you know, she will overcome them... ;)

The other ISPs are established...Competition from DC also directly led to the new world of low price uncapped we live in today...something we could not imagine just a few months ago.

The new ISP gets my support. To ensure competition. ;)

Ive been using DC for just over a week and have to say that so far I am unimpressed.
I have only had about 4 days where I could even log in (login erros prevented a dial-up the rest of the time).
Now that the service is reporting that everything is fine, I get a download speed of about 5-8k per second on a Sunday night when traffic should be low! I have the R500 pm option which according to the website guarantees me a MINIMUM of 256k bps which should be around 20k per second downloads.

I will keep trying it for the rest of the month, but if it does not improve I will be dropping it. so far Ive paid R500 and downloaded 500 Megabytes, not much bang for my buck.

I have gotten good value for money. With IDM I easily get min guaranteed speed.

Everything Lightscribe encounters i to encounter to thats way i like Lightscribe,s posts he words it better he see,s them as a new isp and Lightscribe keep up the gr8 posts

does anybody know how I can contact Dave (besides PM and supportATdigichilli)

I am trying to get a Jan refund.....but getting no reponses from PM and the support email address......

Calling the 087 number is not working for me either.....

He will respond. :) Simply do not use the account any longer, as from the moment you ask for the refund.

It might take a while for a response, give it time... I've always gotten replies when emailing Dave.

What speeds do you guys get on the news servers, I am getting 10k on a 4 meg line with Astraweb

I am also on a 4 meg line and getting under 10k.
I am now getting about 50k with a download manager, which ordinarily gives me just over 400k on my regular telkom adsl subscription.

Is it possible there are settings that need changing to make it faster?

What package are you on? If your on spicy or mild your max speed should be 39kB/s (Okay maybe higher depending on burst speeds) even on a 4Meg line

DC seems to be flying hot today, my poor torrents aren't getting high than 20kB/s tho :eek:

I'm guessing packet loss is still around seeing as pidgin doesn't work and audio streaming stutters every second :(

Even with that everything is improving :D

My stats since Jan 1st:

Up: 704 154 256 bytes
Down: 19 171 321 605 bytes
Combined: 19 875 475 861 bytes

Not bad on a 384 and I'm still going strong :)

I am on Mild.
Why do you say my MAX speed should be 39k?
According to the website... "Minimum guaranteed speed of 256 kbps."

Thanks

I just received an email from the call centre......they say my account has been fixed up. I have already used the "Cool Down" thing though....

We'll see if it works when I get home......
