I am on Mild.
Why do you say my MAX speed should be 39k?
According to the website... "Minimum guaranteed speed of 256 kbps."

That's line speed unfortunetly not downloading speed - 256kbps = 32kB/s download speed, IF I'm not mistaken anyone want to clarify please

In biz hours it will be low

ALL hours is low for me...NNTP and the occasional dip in connectivity are the only issues I still have. I gave up on torrents as I'm unable to get more than 3kb on good seeded torrents - checked my port forwarding and I'm sure it's not that as my SAIX accout easily max out my line on torrents and NNTP. Things are looking more stable though...:)

You also need to factor in the PPPoE and TCP overheads into this. This can be up to 10-20% of the total transmission. 205-230 kbps (25-28 kB/s) is therefore a better figure to work with.

i get full line (4096kbps- about ~420KB/s) speed from astraweb and dc 24/7

you must limit your speed, they will eventually but keep my "warning" in mind. People do not like 4meg users "abusing" the system. just to clarify, was not meant to be nasty, only relay what i have read in previous posts.

no need to switch, they will eventually "limit" all max speeds i am sure, otherwise no body will take more expensive packages.

They are already attempting to do just that, but occasionally some slip through the cracks.

im holding thums and toes and everything else worth holding that DC succeeds... we need this. I would just like more feedback from dave on the gaming issue and if it ever will be a viable option on their network. Vodacom 3G is too much expensive

I got through to the DC call centre! First time in a week of trying several times a day.
They asked me to resend my proof of payment. I just did.

Let's see what happens!
(Why am I so excited like I'm getting internet connection for the first time? :p)

I can log into Secondlife again, but it's still ultra slow, at between 0-2kbps http://mybroadband.co.za/photos/showphoto.php?photo=14157&cat=500

Browsing is fast. 5fm streams well. Downloads get to 38KB+, with 4 segments, using GetRight.

Speedtest.net, that usually gives 25KB+, now shows average of 14KB.

Speedguide.net, that usually shows a slightly lower speed test result, is also lower overall.

What I do notice, is that the wild jumps in speed differences of before, between tests only minutes apart, have become stable.
