Okay so Piet the South African calls he's buddy Wong in Hong Kong:
Piet: Hey Wong whatzup buddy
Wong: Naaah just chillin homes
Piet: Dude i'm going to video call you on skype tonight bro! I just have to man its gonna be off the hook! My internet connection is bursting to 35kb/s man!

Wong:  Dude whats a kilobyte??? But whatever man that sounds hectic fast mine only goes 1Gb/s unfortunately
Piet: :wtf:
Piet: /kicks chair out from under his feet...

LMAO!!!

It seems like they can't or something is wrong so they are unable to. A daily rolling cap of lets say 2-3Gigs would fix things for now i'm sure.

That should surely fix the problem of not being able to connect to MSN :erm:

There is more to this than they are telling us or that they know about... While leechers may contribute they are in no way the root of the problem.

Then they wouldnt even have to fiddle with shapers and the like, if you've gotten your share you're done for the day.

The mild, on a 4 MB line....

Thanks drukkie. See this is what ****ing irritates me about digichilli! I'm on a 384 line and I dont get 20KB. How can they allow others to exceed the speeds of 384KB when there piece of **** network cannot handle it?

1 thing to fix their network would be this:

They should HARD THROTTLE every single connection to 384KB as of right now.

Everyone cannot complain as they will still get their promised 384KB from digichilli. Dave catch a ****ing wake up!

4MB users: 200KB per second
384KB users: 15KB per second

You targeting low speed uncapped yet you screwing over all the guys with the low speed lines. Go figure :mad::mad:

+1

I have to agree.

I'm on a 512k line but i honestly don't mind going down to 384k if it brings stability to the network. Anything above 1kb right now would be good.

As far as they said, they are attempting to do this. The ESR's at Telkom are configured to throttle you back to your package speed.

Obviously this is not working correctly.

Surely, they should have figured this out before launch as they products were graded in terms of line speeds... Would have made sense or no point in buying anything more than the lowest package

no GTalk......no http downloading faster than 2KB's and any mediafire download link does not work at all.....the page wont even open and it use to.....

I've got a 4Mbps line, on a 512 kbps package. It's supposed to be burstable from 512 - 1024 kbps, so you have to have at least a 1Mbps line to take advantage of it. And Telkom installs 384, 512 and 4096 kbps lines, with nothing in between, so there's not much of a choice there.

I have before gotten speeds of 200-300 kB/s (and on occasion 400, though rarely) on local transfers. On international I get at most 40 kB/s on HTTP if I run enough threads, and my torrent speeds fluctuate between 3 and 10 kB/s most of the time. So the only times you will get high speeds is if you have a local source to get stuff from. As I understand it, they have 98% international usage, so in theory the 4Mbps users shouldn't affect that part of the pipe at all. It does degrade the IPC link, however.

And I agree, if i decide to stay with DC, it will be on a 256 kbps package. The 512 is not delivering any more value for the money for me. And I would be happy if they throttle me down to the package speed.

And if you hear about someone getting 200 kB/s, check his destination. It's almost guaranteed to be local.

150B/s bursting to 800B/s. Never thought I'd be hoping for a stable 5Kb/s torrents DL.
Getting slightly obsessed with checking this forum. Not healthy, but hanging in there

Piet & Wong part 2

/Piet and Wong playing a heated game of Call of Duty chattin on teamspeak.

Piet: Wong buddy i gotta go i'm gonna be Capped soon!

To the best of my knowledge Telkom's ESRs will not honour/activate any bw related profile configurations, only a well defined subset of allowed Radius attributes. The rationale is to maintain stability/performance on the boxes, as each terminates in excess of 10000 PPPoE sessions.

Anyways it not Telkom's job to play BW manager for downstream providers. If they wish to implement per subscriber QoS, they need to do it themselves using equipment designed for this purpose; BSMS (broadband subscriber mgmt systems).

Lots of torrents = 5kb, all going at an incredible .sumodd each...

Really helping me. 3 weeks left for one of my torrents @ .5kb

2.68GB file.

i hope dc gets a news server

It's been discussed before, and I believe the answer was that they will be getting one. I guess the current line issues are taking up all their time, though ... not getting their other projects finished.

To be honest, I would hate to be in Dave's shoes right now, with all the complaints (justified, IMO) on the forum. I would hate to walk into that every morning.
