lol... but won't the dx10 cards perform faster in dx10 games?
I'd like to know too...
The problem with these new DX (any version) cards is that they CAN run the game in DX10 (for example) mode and that means they are running a comparatively more intensive game that a DX9 card..
So with the 8600GT would it out perform some of its 7 series rivals in a DX10 title even though they run the game in DX9 mode?
hmm so anyway, hoping that DX10 cards will run even faster (comparatively) in DX10 titles, and seeing how nice those titles looks.. im starting to think about that 8600GT again.
The XFX XXX edition for only R1600 seems good, and its a great factory overclock. But I'll wait to see ATI's price on the HD 2600. The specs look better than the 86xx series, so it just depends on the price.
Hmm too bad though: http://www.fudzilla.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=698&Itemid=1
It is. For the same game 8600GT is faster in DX10 mode (if the game has it) than in DX9 "mode". That is under XP the game will be slower than in Vista. For instance Call Of Juarez will be much faster in Vista and look better than in XP.
So... I'm in the progress of upgrading. And been trying to decide what card to get. The ones I like at the moment are a Radeon X1950XT or a two 8500GT's and SLI them. Works out cheaper then anything else I've found. What would be the best option. The X1950XT seems amazing and beats the 8500 hands down. Would it be worth "investing" (as much as you can with PC)'s in those rather for the Direct10 Support. I tend to upgrade about once every 3 years or so, that's more or less my dilemma.
Please note that the 8600GT's have been found to perform disappointingly for their price-class. They're meant to replace the 7600GT cards, but with existing games there've been cases where even the older 7600GT's performed better than the DX10-supporting 8600GT's.
The 8600GTS is pricier and performs more decently, but this costs R500 less than the venerable 320Mb 8800GTS cards, which are a good option for people able to spend R3,000 for a graphics card.
I believe that it's still a bit early to be buying DX10 cards, having a very small range of titles available to properly benchmark the hardware with.
