Discovery Bank

Been checking in on this thread from time to time to evaluate if its worth it to join disco.

Seems like a royal poop fest.

It depends. After the horrible onboarding process, I've been loving the bank.
 
I am not so impressed with Discovery at the moment.
I never received the last statement from the Discovery card, the one with the balance transfer. I have tried now for 2 weeks to get one out of them - no luck.
My last statement on the new card was +- 17 October. No new statement on that one either.
Anyone else with similar issues?

I also haven't received my for Oct 13th - Nov 13th statement.

I don't know of anyone that received a last DiscoveryCard statement. The transactions and account are on the app though, and that balanced with the transfer. It may have helped that I accidentally and unplanned settled my full outstanding balance just before transfer. :) Which in hindsight was an excellent move as I now maintain a savings account in tandem with my credit card and the two needs to be in balance. So no swiping if I cannot cover the swipe from cash!
 
Just called them. They have a problem with November card statements. Just call the callcentre and ask them to email you your monthly statement.

I was quoted 2.9% per transaction! Is it worth swiping just to hit your goal, or am I missing something (I’m new to discovery bank...)

The cheapest way is to pay your accounts online and breaking them up into R50s.

Yes as this should just be a buffer to reach the goal. Remember from next year you get a extra pick on the board if you reach all 3 goals. So if you miss your bank goal you basically miss 2 picks on the board.
 
Closing the account and moving back to Capitec. This was fun, but it's day rape.

I wonder what the process is when you want to close a bank account, never done that in my life.
 
So, after EIGHT months of trying to sign up and having to endure **** poor support I finally managed to sign up. Man, it's awful

Issues with institutions not able to deduct monies via debit order, no integration with Spendee, not all services working...

I am really disappointed in this product. Bank has a LONG way to go and I'm going back to Capitec until it's sorted out.

People mainly post here if they have problems. Been working perfectly fine for me for months so not much to say. Good bonus interest if you're on Diamond and it's not too hard to get there if you have savings. Literally just deposit some cash and you're Diamond.

Getting to Diamond does not take months/years like with Vitality Health or Drive.
