Discovery Bank

Okay so my problem still remains, apparently because when they were backed by FNB I had a debit card, they cannot increase my credit limit above R1 as they don't yet have the functionality.

I first asked for this to be prioritized the day after I opened my account but they still can't give me any timelines on when this basic functionality will be available. Also they tell me that cancelling my account and opening a new one some how won't help at all, no idea how that works...

My thinking is that most of the frontline consultants are not clued up yet with the working of the systems. I logged a query months ago that was referred to "back-end", on subsequent follow-up, I was told it will be sorted by end of June and that I should wait for their call. Until today, not resolved and no call yet.

There is no way the bank could be recruiting new credit-card clients and have no functionality of setting the credit limit.

Has anyone weighed up the benefits to cost ratio of the gold full suite vs the platinum full suite? From personal experience was it worth it to upgrade from gold to platinum?

Since the budgeting function is purportedly under development I am looking for an easy way to manage my budget by tracking my expenses I'm my future Discovery Bank account.

Is there such a feature at moment? Can I at least export my transactions in CSV format?

I haven't gone through the entire thread, so apologies if I missed this.

On the iOS app:
- tap on the account
- tap the 3 dots at the top right
- select Download Transactions
- select date range and select CSV or excel format
- it’s emailed to you

Great, thank you. I'll use an excel sheet to manage my spending until such a native functionality exists or Spendee adds Discovery Bank.

Will give Bank a try then.

Good morning,

Does anyone know of a help/support email address for Discovery bank? I'm trying to follow up on a transaction dispute that isn't being answered, with documents that were sent to [email protected]

Hi everyone. I'm doing the sums to see if it's worth it for me to join the Bank, and it seems I would need to reach Diamond status. The website says " In order to achieve a Diamond status, you need to be on Gold status and have a certain amount of savings in your Discovery Bank accounts. The amount of savings you need to have in the account depends on your annual income"
Two questions around this:
1. I'm a semi-retired freelancer and thus have no set "annual income". How do they determine my annual income?
2. Does this mean I'd have to take out a transactional account in order to get to Diamond? Is it possible to achieve Diamond status with just a gold credit card?
Thanks!

My legacy FNB Discovery Card was automatically migrated to Discovery. They now administer the card, but I still have all the existing Discovery Card benefits including the legacy Discovery Miles benefits. I have a Platinum card with Diamond vitality status. The question now is if it worthwhile to move to the full Discovery Bank offering. What has the experience been when comparing rewards on the new system? I have delayed the migration in the past due to lack of information on the Discovery Bank offering. Should I make the move?

" What happens if my Discovery Card expires? If your Discovery Card expires within three months after your move to the Discovery Bank’s banking platform, Discovery Bank will reissue a card to you automatically, and it will look like your current card. If your card expires after this three-month period, we will send you a notification to renew your card on the website at www.discovery.co.za. You’ll receive Discovery Bank’s new vertical card with contactless payment functionality but your product stays the same. "

Would this mean that I can continue to use the legacy Discovery Card product? My card expires after the 3 months.

I'm also on the legacy card, expring May 2021. I suspect (hope!) that we can continue using the legacy card (with the miles multiplier) until it expires, at which point you would decide whether to stay with Discovery and get a new card or cancel your card and move to another bank.

I'm in the same boat as the two posters above, legacy card, does this mean we will now have to move to Discovery Bank?

Once your credit card expires, you would have the choice of taking out a new Discovery Credit Card with Discovery Bank (you can just take the card, no need for a transactional account) or moving to another credit card provider. I'd recommend maybe trying out the Virgin Credit Card if rewards aren't important to you - there are no monthly charges. Otherwise look at your spend profile and the various credit card costs and take out an appropriate card - FNB for ebucks, a Woolworths Card if you spend a lot there, a British Airways-linked card from Absa if you want BA miles, etc.
