Discovery Bank

Yeah think like R500 a month. Was going make my main account, but ebucks is still good to me for now

It’s 500 per month and there’s like a annual fee of 2k. It’s not bad if you plan on getting the top of the range iPhone. Which basically covers the fees. The international 75% off business class flights would of been nice if it wasn’t for covid.

I see there giving a new benefit because people can’t fly. They giving you 50% off iPhones/Samsung TVs. Similar to the garmin device booster on purple vitality.

Not too bad. But R25 000 peanuts for top range Samsung phones? Seen over R32 000 for latest phones.
But the devil is in the T & Cs. You need to maintain 250K in the account, and must have spent 600K from your cards in the past 12 months.

It’s almost the same tc as the international business flight discount. So if you qualify for the flight discount you qualify for the Samsung/Apple discount.

Hi guys, am considering getting a Discovery credit card (because of the rewards) as a new graduate.

I'm guessing Gold is the cheapest and best option for me for now, but which account will let me use the credit card to buy stuff online, pay at shops etc without paying fees for it. Currently with Nedbank.

Don't all credit cards let you pay online and at shops wthout any fees? As long as you pay the full balance by the due date each month, there should be no fees other than your standard monthly fee for the honour of having the card (R75 for the Discovery Gold card only). Just make sure you will earn enough back in rewards each month to warrant to cost of the credit card. Otherwise go for a free card like Virgin Money.

Depends on your lifestyle. Ideally you’d need to be on diamond money status, and spend quite a bit on healthy food and healthy gear per month to get the potential maximum return. Probably with gold full suite then.

Just spoke to a consultant at Discovery Bank, and they weren’t able to assist me with regards to having to prove income when moving to platinum suite either. He also doesn't know if you will be moved back to blue status if you don’t submit proof of earning 350k + per year. So much for clarification

According to the website, "In order to achieve a (sic) Diamond status, you need to be on Gold status and have a certain amount of savings in your Discovery Bank accounts." Does it state which Discovery Bank account/s need to contain these savings? Could I just stash the required amount in a fixed deposit and forget about it?
Another question: do the dynamic interest rates apply to fixed deposits, or only to demand/notice accounts?

Mine is split between normal Vitality savings, tax free savings and fixed deposit. But all added up to the required amount needed for diamond.

Hi Gents, tempted to try out Discovery Black vs FNB PW, eBucks are meh at the moment with no 40% vouchers and I tend to spend more at Woolworths these days.

Do I need to have my salary deposited into Disco to earn miles similar to eBucks or can I run the 2 accounts concurrently just by transferring money over?

My Discovery credit card was migrated from FNB to Discovery Bank. If I register with the bank and open up a new Discovery Bank Credit Card will all of my current details move from the old card product to the new card product?

anyone else receive their miles for healthy food, gear etc yet ?

mine looks to be around 4K miles less than anticipated. Need to query to see a breakdown

I got something today, but it seems to be only the vitality health side, nothing from bank yet.

Some of it might be delayed.
