Discovery Bank

Yep and nobody checks whether you a Discovery client or not? At least when I travelled in October.
I just said I have a black (which I do) and I was let through. No checking

Do you guys have any idea how long it takes for your dynamic discounts take to update? I opened an account yesterday morning.

I can't seem to find it easily on their website, and the healthy food page is broken, but do you still need to link your woolworths wrewards card to your discovery account for the healthy food benefit or do you just swipe your discovery bank credit card?

Yes to both (link woolworths to your Vitality HEALTH account for Vitality Health cash back and use Disovery Bank CC to pay for Vitality MONEY cash back)

I suppose if you swipe your ww rewards card but use your ww credit card you won’t qualify for the maximum discount?

That is how I understand it as you only get the Vitality Money /bank benefit if you pay using the Diacovery CC

I shop at pick n pay or Dis-Chem. Never tried risking it but if you paranoid I think you can pay like 95% with another card and the remaining with your discovery card.

I can confirm I get my full healthyfood and Care in miles Even though I part pay with using vouchers from discovery.

There is no simple answer to this question. The dynamic discount is based on a number of factors. First of, what is your Money status /has that been updated?

No problem, was just wondering.

I see the dynamic discounts started showing up earlier this afternoon. Money status has already been updated to Silver.

I just joined the bank and am trying to figure out this Vitality Money stuff. I've been allocated 65000 points, which puts me on silver. I have 0 savings points so I have to prove savings to them. But it says "Savings in money market or savings accounts with other retail banks will need to be transferred to Discovery Bank to earn savings points".
How much do I need to put into Discovery savings account/s to earn maximum savings points? I gave them a salary of R25000 but I'm a freelancer, so can pretty much put any number in there. Smaller is better, I assume? And I assume putting money into a fixed or notice deposit will do the job?
Thanks.

You need 3x your salary in savings (so R75,000 on a salary of R25,000) to earn the maximum 25,000 savings points. Go to the Vitality Money section of the Bank app and tap the savings button below the progress ring to determine the amount you would need to save to get the 15,000 points you require to get to Gold. If you want to achieve diamond status, you'll need even more savings (at least R45,000 in your case). If you don't want to deposit that much you can enter a smaller salary, but that might affect your debt points. Any savings account with Discovery is fine (even the bundled Vitality Savings Account), but fixed deposit interest rates are obviously better.

Is anyone else struggling to log into the banking app on Android? I am getting a "error performing token authentication" message which I can't resolve

Has anyone got the "Understanding your dynamic discounts" document for the Gold account? Google finds me the Platinum, Black and Purple ones, but Gold is eluding me....

Brilliant, thanks for this link.
I uploaded proof of funds in a Sygnia unit trust and that seemed to do the trick. Interesting that they accepted that immediately and granted me my savings points, yet my upload of proof of my Sygnia RA had no effect on my retirement points - I've logged a query. Anyway - I've hit Gold without the retirement points.

Did anyone clarify the gym benefit with Discovery Bank: I was advised that I must activate the gym benefit on my bank app, but I don't see any option? I have a platinum CC, do I need a different account type?

Does anyone know how to add "Standard Bank" under external savings? It does not show up under the "Institution Name".

As far as I can recall they exclude
savings held with other commencial banks, don't know if that's only specifically for investments or savings as well.

But what worked for me is if you go back and then continue with adding your external provider, the app realised that it's not in the list and allowed you to upload your document.

What do you guys do for hitting your Money goals?
It seems odd they want you to spend more money to show that you are spending responsibly. For example, what if you go grocery shopping once a month (mainly) and then all the other weeks you won't reach your 10 point goal?
