Just checked mine. On Diamond for a few days and I'm getting miles at at rate of 1/15. Was 1/50 before that when I was on Silver.

Just a little warning for those who upgraded the colour of their accounts and use Samsung Pay as well. My Discovery card do a "do not honour" message on the terminal. I assume this is probably because I have a new card that is pending. My FNB Credit worked on Samsung Pay. This could also just be an issue just for me.

Go to Accounts > 3 dot menu > Change Account Colour > Enter the amount of R1000000 > Enter > You should see the different account colours. I was on gold so I saw Platinum and Black, so I selected Plat.

What colour are you? Maybe you dont get this option when you already at the highest tier.
I am on black and don't have this option. Probably just upgrade then. I see on the app store it says " - You now have the ability to change the colour of your accounts to a higher tier." So upgrades only

If you are on black already, you dont have that option.

I'd imagine you have to be earning enough to move up a tier, if you don't earn enough, then you don't qualify to move up.

I exceeded R15 000 spend level last month and my earn rate remained at 6.67% for transactions after exceeding R 15 000 spend. Diamond status black suite.
I wish they'd give out some sort of info on standard spend limits. My cap is at 30k also on black.

I don't think the spend limits matter for miles. I only swipe about R4k a month and am getting the highest rate for miles on Diamond.

It seems like those spend limits only affect things like your local flight discount and healthy food discount. I'm currently at 43.5% local flight discount which can go up to 60%.

I've just received a call from one of the consultants asking to move my discovery credit card over from FNB to Discovery Bank. I can't cancel my discovery card at the moment as I still have the apple watch benefit active.
  1. Has anyone moved their credit card only (without full suite) to discovery bank?
  2. Would it be better with the "rewards" to just get the gold suite full bank?
Any advice will be appreciated.

Does paying your EasyPay utility bill at pick n pay occurr any cost or interest charges? And will it count as part of monthly spend band?

No you get up to 55% days free. It will count towards the spend, just add something like a chocolate to the bill to make sure it gets picked up as groceries.

No actually. I could've easily upgraded to Black because it seems like they don't check how much you really earn on the Transaction. I didn't pick black because it's a little too much for me but anyone else could. I remember when first applying the person on the phone asked which tier I want after the questions on how much I earn. I think they don't care about how much you earn. As long as you pay, they seem to be happy.

Guys, question. What transactions contribute towards your monthly spend limit ? An example would be debit orders, money transferred to another account(savings or family) etc.

The requirements for Black scale up more from what they told me. They said in the minimum savings you have to have with discovery go up to 100k (mine started on 2.5 and doubled the next month, i'll see what this month brings) and a higher minimum value of transactions a month to get benefits (i can't remember what it was, 20-something i think)

Hi,

I received a call from them today and they said for any spend up to 30k they will give me miles according to my vitality money status as a multiplier. but after 30k you only the bare minimum, which is 1% from what he told me.

Ah I see. Yeah that's probably true. Though I probably will never swipe that much in a month. Only an issue for big spenders.

I see the current conversion rate is 12 miles = R1. So at 1/15 rate you need to spend R180 to get R1 back. So with R30k spend you get R166.66 back. Not much at all.

Wonder if that 1/15 rate is going to be the final one or if it is just temporary. Diamond health status (before bank) used to get a 10x multiplier so 1/1.5 so you would get R1666.66 back for R30k spend.

The Apple Watch benefit will be carried over to Discovery Bank. I moved with still 13 months left to sweat off my watch; seamless. I took only the Credit Card + secondary card (Platinum in our case suits our needs the best at a reasonable monthly cost - the full suite does not provide enough benefits to outweigh the cost in our case). Together with the Credit Card account you will also get a (free) Vitality Savings account for your cash back. To get the Vitality Money going you'll need to 'deposit' R1000 into the Savings Account - EFT from Nedbank took 12 hrs to reflect.

Thank you very much, I believe I will go the same route

I did however notice that when I log into the app and go to boosted rewards with vitality money then it seems that I will be better off with going with the full suite instead of the credit card as the cashback at Dischem/Clicks (we spend alot there per month) seem higher as well as the 100% Gym benefit on the full suite for the extra R100 per month.

So if I take the credit card only it's R 75 per month and I pay 25% of the gym fee vs if I take the full suite then I pay R110 more than the credit card but get 100% of my gym fee.

Please correct me if Im wrong
