Discovery Vitality [2017]

I have been to the gym everyday this week and so far only Tuesdays points have come through. Whats weird is that Monday's points aren't in?

Anybody else having issues?

Hey guys,

I am planning a trip to New York at the end of the year and wanted some input on a few things.

I currently have a Blue Discovery card and am on Gold for Vitality. I know Discovery offer discounts on flights, what do I need to do in order to get this discount?

I was wanting to go through a travel agency will this affect me getting the discount?

Are there any other tips for saving a bit of money with Vitality?

Thanks!

Use travelocity or similar.

I don't think you can get the flight discount by using a travel agent; you have to go through kulula.com and enter your Discovery membership number. It will then know your Vitality status and show you the discount when you go through the booking process. To get to New York, though, you would have to fly either Emirates (which is a bit of a roundabout way of getting there, but generally the cheapest) or BA. Also, the discount is only on the base fare, not the taxes, plus it's only on the regularly available fare. So the best thing to do is see what it would cost you going through kulula.com, and then use a flight comparison site like travelocity or travelstart or skyscanner and see what they come up with, to see whether it's actually better to go through Discovery or not.

If you're flying at peak holiday time, best you do your booking asap. Prices can get very steep.

Garmin HR workout not reflecting

I have been using a Garmin Vivoactive with HR monitor for over 6 months and have never had any problem with Discovery recognising my workouts. My points usually reflect on the app under my Active Rewards within a few hours of syncing to my Garmin Connect app.

I have just started using a new phone and yesterday I synced my Vivoactive to the new phone. My HR workout is showing in the app on my phone, as well as on the Garmin Connect website. On Discovery's own website, it shows the most recent device sync. Yet it has not recorded my 300 points for my HR activity (it qualifies for the 300 pts). Instead, it as recorded 5000-9999 steps for that day. So it's recorded *something* for the day, but not the right thing.

Any ideas? (I have emailed Discovery about this as well)

Hi,

I have had that happen before. sometimes, the heart rate takes time to "reflect" but if it has not come through the email with screen shots should do the trick. In case of further issues...check that its not pulling through as unverified...once I had that happen that the name of my device somehow got lost and wsn't reflecting on discovery side...I contacted Garmin tech support and they helped me through some steps..once I completed them everything worked perfectly again.

Hope this helps..

I'm also looking for 3 people to join my team. Im new to vitality but I hit my goal every week, PM me if you're looking for someone.

Hi, I'm also looking for team members...can I join your team?

Does anyone else experience extremely slow response and almost freeze-ups in the Discovery app when working with "Digital Cards"?
It's not something I use often, but now that I need to, it's practically unusable :(

Perhaps but i last used digital cards about a year ago, i usually screenshot my voucher when i choose my reward in case there are issues as you mentioned and then i'm up a creek without a paddle in trying to redeem it.

How do I do that?

Interestingly, today I decided to sync with the app on my *old* phone, and that HR workout has already reflected on Discovery. Tuesday's run, though, is still not showing. So it seems to have something to do with the app on the new phone. Do I need to uninstall the app on the old phone? Or maybe I should delink the device from Discovery, uninstall the app on the old phone, then re-link the device? Any thoughts?

I do the same with screenshots, but I need to access my Ster Kinekor card.

Hi,

when I was querying with discovery (phone call) why my heart rate didn't reflect...they told me my device name was missing. I then phoned Garmin Tech support 011 251 9800 to ask them why this had happened. He gave me instructions...unfortunately I can't remember exactly what they were. delinking and relinking may help but it always scares me that if I delink...maybe I won't be able to relink but that is a possible way to make it work. The tech support guy gave me instructions to do with my garmin account.

Doesn't seem like your device is unverified judging by the fact that it worked for your old phone...I have also had one workout not upload for some weird reason and then the next one upload without a hitch...two days later...

Perhaps a complete reset with the new phone might work...Good Luck...sometimes having a phone conversation with Discovery can help as they can check your account and possibly see what happened to Tuesday's workout. If there are no obvious problems...try the relink.

I also had one workout that didn't upload and Discovery wanted my Garmin account email address to verify my workout. i did think this was odd because I had sent screen shots...I didn't remember what it was so I couldn't(didn't really want to) give it them. It took a month before the points were finally allocated.

Unfortunately I'm in the UK for the next three months, so calling Discovery isn't really an option! I've de-linked the device from both phones, and re-linked it only on the new phone. Re-synced on the new phone. Nothing yet from Tuesday's workout.

Ugh, that would mess up my Active Rewards situation - I need this workout to reflect by Wednesday so I make my weekly goal - I don't care much for the rewards (since I can't use them), but I have the Shoe Booster active... I can imagine the fight that I'd have to go through to get the full Shoe Booster refund if I didn't make my weekly goal due to this glitch! I suppose I'd better just do another 300-pointer tomorrow which would get me to my goal anyway.....

I'm looking for as many people as there is that use the Apple Watch ⌚️ to workout. My idea is for us to be in a iMessage motivation/support group and share our Apple Watch activity, thus when one of us finishes a solid workout we can motivate each other and keep each other going.

yea, mine takes forever for everything, but does seem to be worse with digital cards

i mentioned it in when i gave their app a 1-star rating in google play and their response was that it was because i was using an older version of their app. but even after updating the app, it hasn't been any more responsive/quick in loading times and such.......
