Discovery Vitality [2017]

What's the easiest way to check what points you earned from fitness activities vs non-fitness activities? I'm trying to ascertain how much of the 30k annual fitness limit in points I have used up.

edit: Nevermind, looking back i know i got 20,000 for health check tests and 5,000 for HIV test, so I can estimate that I've gotten around 10k points for fitness stuff so far this year.

Remember, you also get points monthly for Healthy Food/Gear/Items on the cards at your preferred places.

Thanks, really? I knew about healthyfood points but I didn't know you get points on healthy gear and care items...

Did my fitness test at bio this morning and got my 5k points already. Scored level 4 which is 2500 pts and then the other 2500 pts is for just doing the test.

Its very easy.
1. A lot of flexibility tests like
- Squat against the wall
- Squat down from step on one leg
- lie down and in fetus position then open arm up to other side
- hands behind back
- lie down on back then lift 1 leg at a time to 90 degrees
2. Step on treadmill to let your heart rate go up, then they check what it is after like 2 minutes or so. Aparently you want this around 90-100 bpm, mine was at 120 or something I still got full points.

Then they also check your blood pressure and stuff and some questions.

Its still very easy to score 5/5. Both me and the wife passed flying colours and we not runners, only go to gym to do strength exercises.

For level 6-7 if you qualify, there are fewer places you can go to, they put an oxygen mask on your face and push your heart rate all the way to 100% of your age related max. At least that is what they told me when I asked about it.

Damn, i did the watt bike test and I only scored level 4 (out of 5) for cardio and that is with me doing 2 workouts a week where i average above 70% of max HR for 40 minutes, so i consider myself fairly fit. It may be that the treadmill test is the way to go for full points.

The Biokineticist that I went to said the treadmill test is 6 minutes long. The watt bike test can go on indefinitely, in theory. The aim there is to get your heart rate to 85% of max HR, and for me this was pushing 115W on the bike. You start at a target of 55W for 45 seconds (or 1 minute I forget now) and then every interval it bumps up by 10W if i remember correctly, so I suppose I did 7 minutes which was killer on my legs more than my lungs.

I didn't do any 'lie down and in fetus position' assessment. I also had to do one legged half squats x3 each leg, normal overhead squats, doing 3 lunges and 3 pushups whilst keeping my back and neck straight etc...

Interesting. So every bio still kinda do their own thing with this fitness tests...

Could be. The rest of the stuff i had to do was as you described it in your point 1.

So on a somewhat related note, i realised too late that I could have gotten free flights next month via Flight Booster. I completely forgot that thing even existed and meanwhile I was busting my hump to get free smoothies whereas I could have gotten 100% back off my Kulula flights.

/facepalm

I haven't had any heart rate points awarded for the last 3 weeks, since the last update of the app. It's driving me nuts!

Has anyone had this issue with Discovery, S Health and a Gear Fit? All apps are up to date, all data is authorised to sync in both apps, S Health is syncing correctly from the watch, but the discovery app doesn't seem to pick up the heart rate workouts at all.

Same here. No points synched from polar this month. Have logged it so hour they will fix it. And my rewards, as well as the teams. And my shoe booster...let's see

Hmm, there was an update to the app yesterday - have you updated the discovery app? I think this should solve your problem. The update I think specifically addressed s-health integration

After the shoddy/untested Discovery app updates the past few months I am very hesitant to update (a working version of the app) to the new latest and greatest one available on the android play store - I've been burned by Discovery too often and then struggle to get them to fix the problem again and then losing out on points/rewards/cashbacks.

My suggestion is before you update to the new version, backup your current APK on your phone and if there is a problem with the new one you can just remove it completely and re-install the previous working version.

Thanks. I downloaded it before bed last night and did a manual sync. No points.

I will try a fresh workout today and see if that works.

That's strange.. My syncs have worked well lately. Send a screenshot to Vitality of the sync section of s-health in the app as well as the relevant workouts in the s-health app

Same, since 2 updates ago, I've had no issues at all.

My sync has just been working.

Ok. Thanks for the feedback. I have an ongoing query with them. I will send the latest screenshots and see what they say.

One thing that sticks out is that S Health now has a slider to sync 'heart rate' as well as 'exercise' , but the latest discovery app lacks the 'heart rate' option

Not sure what yours looks like, but mine says steps and exercise - both of those obviously need to be on

Yes. Mine looks identical. Everything that can be switched on, is.
