Discovery Vitality [2018]

Needs to be 30.

You’ll get 300 points by Wednesday for taking part.

Thats so bull. So if I ran slower I would have gotten some? Sounds ridiculous.

And they didn't have enough tags at the event so I won't get an official parkrun result.

Yes you need to run for at least 30 mins to earn points using your Garmin.

So either run slower or further.

I did but don’t they also need that separate tag they give you at the end as well?

I don't know about the separate tag.
When I did the park run, I just had my barcode (that I printed myself) scanned right at the end and that was my only interaction with any race officials.
If that was scanned, then you should get the points.

New requirement this year. Tag scan before the race and barcode after.

Do I pay the gym activation fee for myself (the main member) and my partner, or is it 2x activation fees?

Do the benefits on Vitality count for the main member and dependant or only the main member?

Will my 75% discount reduce my monthly gym membership immediatly when I sign up? or is there a wait?
I was going to sign up for the gym again this year, but the initiation fee is what stopped me

Huh, what is this tag thing? Disclaimer: I've not done a park run yet...

You sign up on the Park Run website, get a barcode. You have to print this barcode out (they can't scan it off your phone) and scan it before the race. Then, after you finish the race, you get a number tag (indicating your position) at the finish point. You then scan your bar code and this number tag so they can link you as being the xxxth person to finish the race that day.

Edit: Don't forget to include your ID in the Discovery Vitality link on the Park Run site so you can get your 300 points for each Park Run completed.

Thanks for that. I only did one so far in November.

Parkrun/walk is the easy way to get 300pts weekly. I walk it most weekends since November.

I run the treadmill at gym for 30min HR@80% once a week, visit gym 4x of which one is a smoothy visit and other two are weight training so that I easily can get 900pts.

Ps. There is talk about Parkrun not counting for Discovery if the cheating doesn’t end soon.

If you go there you will find that as much as 40% cheat(15-20 at single loop) and do a single loop where the parkrun requires looping twice or people cutting across the loop(single loop parkrun) to finish walking in 30min where a walk takes 50-60min (a decent run takes

Parkrun people are actually getting worried as Discovery sponsors them and if Discovery pulls out, they lose funding.

Or they should reduce it to 200pts then it will require one to do some other HR exercise
