Discovery Vitality [2018]

Anyone able to redeem a loot R250 voucher? I logged a ticket on the Vitality website and some genius replied to me about syncing workouts, completely not what I was asking
Ugh, why can't they employ people who can read! I regularly get answers that have no relation to the question I'm asking.

At R1 earned for every R150 spent(lowest tier) its just very difficult to make back the R400odd annual fee. After I went over it, I don't spend money at their partners who give you multiplier bonuses based on your vitality status.
Yeah, you have to be on Diamond and do a fair bit of shopping at partners to make it work properly. I'm a very low spender on my credit card (I travel a lot and don't use it for non-Rand spending) but have earned 16500 miles over the past 12 months. Of that, about 37% is "base miles" and the balance is "multiplier miles". But even at just R1 per R150 spent, that's R60,000 spend over a year to make up the R400 fee. Which is only R5,000 per month. I put everything possible on my card - my municipal rates, cellphone data contracts, home insurance, charity donations, petrol (10x miles at BP!), cellphone airtime (10x miles at Dischem!), every tiny amount spent. Obviously pay off in full each month.

I don't see any bonus challenges, so does that mean moving forward we will only get one play a week? Two if you have discovery insure.

Assume so - it was nice while it lasted. I reckon they will have the odd challenge every so often but the easy coins time has moved on.

Those are decent earnings. Pity it takes 3 years to achieve diamond. With ebucks you can achieve reward level 5 within a month. I earn approximately R700 per month from ebucks on their gold account.
Im just saying its not worth it for me to move all my spend to discovery card for way less return. But my opinion may change once they launch their bank. I am working harder and harder on my vitality score so perhaps at some point ill reach diamond and I can even maximize both ebucks and discovery miles as the maximum returns diminish year after year. Thanks for the tips such as airtime at dischem, etc.

I also play the ebucks game, earned R24,085.00 (eB240854) in 10 months so far this year. That's actual ebucks 1:1, not using that to buy vouchers etc at 40% off.

Wow that is amazing. Probably need to bank with FNB though to earn that much via ebucks?

One may earn a lot of ebucks /discovery miles but your also spending a lot on your cc to get them. If you were going to buy those items that's okay but I know ppl. Who over spend on things they dont need just to get miles

The only thing it influences is where I shop to earn maximum rewards. But I wont overspend to earn more. I did occasionally do that in the early days of ebucks but over time realized the small gains werent worth it.

Just read this about 2019 Vitality:

To ensure we offer you a seamless experience when earning Vitality fitness points by getting active we are discontinuing integration with iHealth, Misfit and TomTom from the Vitality programme. This will be effective from January 2019.

If you are currently linked to one of these devices we will continue to allocate points for your workout data but no new users will be able to link their accounts to Discovery Vitality from January.

If you plan on giving someone one of these devices for Christmas, best they link to their Vitality account before New Years rolls around.
