Discovery Vitality [2018]

hi, just got my fitbit Alta HR, so i get 100 pts for 10000 steps and go to gym (100 pts) at the same time. Hence 200 pts a day?
My wife only do 5000 steps, my colleagues told me i can only get 1000 pts max for doing 5000 steps each year. is this true?

You will only get points for one event per day which will be the one that scores the most points.

Yes there is a limit on points for the year for only 5000 steps per day. Guess it's to encourage people to be more active.

damn it, bought the Alta HR thought i can do 200 pts a day
Guess i need to wake up early on saturdays to do Parkruns, will try to bring my wife with

You can earn up to 300 points per day with the Fitbit if you do a workout for 30 mins at more than 80% of your age related max heart rate.

That's only for points towards your bronze/silver/gold status. You can still get 50 active points towards your weekly goal for 5000 steps after your yearly limit is reached.

Oh yes that's correct

I want to admit my gran to the key care plan. She does not earn an income. Is it possible for her to qualify for the lower contribution plan since she will be the main member?

Best to call the call centre. But I would think so. Only concern would be if she hasn't been on medical aid for a while

So weird, first time this happened. After having a tomtom for nearly two years, I did a treadmill run and it was correctly recorded my activity (48mins at 130bpm on the tomtom app) which should have given me 200 points but discovery gave me 300 based on a 61mins at 129.9bpm where did they get that info from? I synced the activity again but it's still showed the higher duration?

Discovery is running a promo. If you haven't joined vitality or have joined after 1 May 2018 you are eligible for a discounted gym joining fee.

I just recently started using a fitbit (Charge 2) to track my gym workouts (I notice that it often gets my heart rate wrong when working out, as it should be for example 130, but it would register 60 - anyway this is beside the point). At 24, my age related heart rate is 157 for 80%+. But, my Discovery app gives me 300 points for a 45 min workout, when my fitbit registered an average of 155. Is there some sort of leeway that Discovery gives?

Yeah there is about like a 1 or 2 leeway. There’s also about a 10 sec leeway as well.

Dunno about that question of yours, but just FYI, this is/was happening to my wife with her Apple Watch, so she tried a few things like positioning the watch tighter, looser, round the wrist a bit, but nothing helped. Changed it to her other wrist and bingo, it registers heartbeat properly. Maybe something to check out if it continues.
