Disney +

Thanks for the info, guess I'll check it out myself later today. I'm using NordVPN, works quite well too.
What I did was setup another VLAN on a seperate SSID that issues these DNS servers via DHCP. So all my media devices connect to this SSID and automatically they get the SmartDNSProxy DNS servers.

Sounds like an awesome setup. Probably a daft question, but using SmartDNSProxy, with those IPs will allow one to access local services like DSTV Now, Showmax as well? If so, that will help, because disconnecting and reconnecting NordVPN each time I want to switch between Disney+ and DSTV Now is a little bit of a schlep, lol.

Yes, no issues whatsoever. Nice thing is that is totally seamless with zero input required.

Signed up for the 14-day trial, but I can already see myself buying a 12 month sub for this once the 14 days are expired. Got it setup and it works like a bomb, and like you said, nice and seamless :D

How do install this channel onto the Mibox . Should I just sell the box and get a device that works with it ? Everyone raves about this device but it is so limited .

The box works well, Disney + is not released here so not available, unless you side load it.

Out of curiosity - what content does Disney+ have that is not available elsewhere?

They have so much content it’s frankly ridiculous. Unfortunately I’ve already seen a lot of it so unless you’re interested in straight to dvd sequels or late-stage Simpsons it might not be so appealing to adults, but it’s a must for kids.

Yeah I agree . It is a game changer for kids . But netflix seems to be my go to channel as their originals are great .

Reason I was asking is it may be easier to locate those titles on all these "other apps" without needing to jump the VPN and DNS hoops.

I've been using expressvpn and smartdnsproxy. Smart is slightly inferior with regards to quality and buffering but it works with everything so kids can bounce between Disney and showmax without me being there. I switch to express if I want to watch something

Probably easier from My Family Cinema - $30 a year done and dusted, or CyberFlix VIP, not sure what that cost, but probably cheaper and no hoops.

my thinking exactly - simplifies things.

I thought a smartdns service would not reduce your speed and should therefore give better quality than a VPN like Express VPN?

Out of curiosity, how does your setup look for Smartdns?

Did you add the addresses directly to your router's config? I'm using the SmartDns Client app which I manually activate on my MiBox when the wife and I want to watch Disney+. However, I found that Showmax and DSTV Now's apps have difficulties in accessing content using the local DNS addresses. It's a bit of a hit and miss affair, sometimes it works, other times it doesn't.

But it's quick and easy to turn it off via the app before accessing Showmax or DSTV Now, so it's not a huge train smash. The nice thing about the SmartDNS client app is that I don't need to activate my IP via the website each time I power off my router + ONT. The app does it automatically for me.

@Jasondruck - The easiest way to get Disney+ installed on your MiBox without side loading it, is to create a new Google account using a US based VPN. Log in with that account on your MiBox (or add it to your existing one) and then open up the Google Play store. You'll find it there. Just select it and choose install. Done and dusted
