I'm neither, thank you very much. Rather, I'm encouraged by the fact that society is developing a voice which speaks out against idiocy & no longer allows any moron a free pass to do just about anything as long as it gets wrapped up in 'culture' or 'religion'.

This is not about "changing" people. This is about people needing to follow the law, as well as have the common decency not to disrupt their neighbours lives so that they can have a bit of fun.
 
i know that my family every year end celebrates with fireworks ,it would be hypocritical of me to say its not right for people to celebrate dewali fireworks

I made the mistake of trying to intelligently argue with them early in the thread. Instead of a decent, logical counter argument, they'd either ignore posts they can't refute, or counter with non-related accusations. It was an interesting tutorial in the modus operandi of trolls.

You guys should listen to this guy when he tells you you're prejudiced. He probably knows more than anyone else about prejudice. He's writing a thesis on it.

Only 90%?

I thought he was just trying to down play how massively important he was, since of course he wrote the constitution in its entirety when he was still just a little boy barely out of diapers.

The other day on the freeway a ferrari 458 italia just whizzed by me ... shaw it caught me by surprise because it was so silent.

You people should perhaps actually go outside

Why does Diwali (Festival of Lights) have to entail people using rockets etc to do their celebrations at home?

I've had to deal with a dog that was scared witless because some idiots felt it was their right to let off rockets at home that would shake my windows from 5 houses away. Grates me even more that after me and 4 other neighbours went over and asked nicely for them to stop they pretty much gave us the finger and continued letting off rockets, and told us in no uncertain terms that they would only stop if the police arrived and told them it was illegal.

So instead of being neighbourly and stopping since they could see we were upset, they ended up having to deal with the police and the fine that came with it.

**edit** for those who may misunderstand this. I have no issue with the smaller fireworks that don't make a ridiculous amount of noise. I also have an issue with these damn loud fireworks regardless of the day

no no that unacceptable for this lot of douchebags. Sedation for their animals if they require it cannot be done for a period of 4 hours.

Instead the entire hindu community must go to designated zones of THEIR choice which THEY say is acceptable. :rolleyes:

not really im just making fun of the stupidity. They have mufflers but by no means does that make the cars soft.

Also in terms of noise the big bang fireworks have already been banned sooo...

Three Points:

  • In my neighbourhood the same people let off fireworks at Diwali (including day before and after), Guy Fawkes and New Year.
  • It appears some Hindu's in South Africa, can learn a lot from their fellow Hindu's outside South Africa, when it comes to doing something that involves LIGHT not noise.
  • As I've said in other years on here, there's no substitute for practical experience. Some people need to experience what it's like for animals. A flashbang going off next to the head does wonders.
