I'd be surprised if they did not.

Are we going to encounter intelligent life? I very much doubt it (timespans and distances involved are just far too large). Some evidence of biological life outside of earth? I suspect this is a possibility.

IOW it's a futile exercise in speculation.

Romans 1:22
Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools

Somewhere in here we're assuming we're intelligent lol. Snap on what Dave just said.

Yes, in our hundred years or so of actually looking. With extremely limited technology. In a universe billions of years old.

But, you still haven't presented a case while "there will never be".

Seeing as its agreed by your fraternity that the last "spoken word" (hahaha) was 2000 years or so ago, how are you so arrogant as to presume what your creator has done (or rather, not done) in the meantime - or will do so in the future?

So far there isn't and has never been. The technology is good enough to make the universe billions of years old but can't find other beings. Right. That's all it is. Until you can proof that there are 'aliens' on other planets, which there isn't, it is nothing but fiction. Aliens exist only in story books.

Just like the deep of our oceans we know very little about life beyond our little rock.

The universe is vast - so unimaginably massive the possibilities are virtually endless of what could be out there.

It would also be a massive waste of space if it is only us and no-one/something else out there ... Somewhere

That's the problem right there. We are seeing light that is millions to billions of years old. A civilization that popped up 10000 years ago is invisible to us for thousands or millions of years.

To see them, we would have to either go to them or they will have to come to us.

Space is huge. We may never meet another intelligent lifeform but that doesn't mean they don't exist.

Speculation and good imagination. That's all it is.

/wait for you to tell me there are intelligent beings somewhere in the ocean, we just haven't discovered them yet....

Unimaginable.
Possibilities.
Could.
Must be.
Somewhere.
Some time.

No you toffee - nothing sentient.

They recently discovered some of the heat/lave vents deep under the oceans are full of life - this is in an extremely hot mostly sulphur environment.

Everywhere we look on earth we find organisms thriving in all kind of biomes.

Within the vastness of space and the trillions of places life could manifest it would be silly to think our little rock is the only one.

What do you mean 'can't find other beings'? We can hardly grok the contents of our own galaxy.

And no, aliens aren't just in fiction. You are potentially an alien; you're a life form that arose at some location in the galaxy to which some other life in the universe might be directing their own speculation.

Because it is fiction that you only get in movies and books. Anyways, I enjoy science fiction so continue looking. So far the results are pretty disappointing.....

Keep in mind, we haven't poked out heads out very far...

I mean, we're sending robots to Mars, etc. That's the very opposite of futile, I'd say. Imagine the philosophical ramifications of us finding some sort of rudimentary life (or evidence thereof) on another planet than earth?

+1

Awesome vid - puts things nicely into perspective.

Nee man. You sound more desperate than convincing :)

Well thats just it. Imagine. We have life all around us and we still cant imagine. We think were intelligent but actually were just bored and selfish and want what we don't have.
