This. Toddlers like to test their boundaries. A small smack on the hand with a firm reprimand is all that is needed to get them to stop the wrong behaviour.

People are so lazy they want to teach kid's and solve all and any behavioural problems that their kid's display instantly and without much effort so a spanking is very convenient.

As for toddlers and a smack on the hand it hurts their feelings more than anything else...they are so cute and ugly when they cry because they can't do something

My Mom used to still smack me on the hand when I was being cheeky as a teenager and it would stop me in my tracks. I am however still a bit cheeky (as you know) but not to my Mom!

110 Yes - No 16 ........ the snowflakes can have their no spanking choice obviously but do they say the same, nope. Gotta get all up in everyone's business.

Yes... after talking nicely doesn't work anymore it's time for associating no or stop it... With some pain :-) but all in moderation ofcourse.

As long as you stop before they pass out, it should get the message through. Passing out from shock or pain usually just leaves you dazed and confused.

Many ways to dicipline kids = tv. computer games. What they enjoy doing etc
Spanking is last resort when things start getting out of control
My kids are told. Every action u have a reaction. Good action, most times good reaction. Bad action bad reaction
Too much spanking shows child there is no support only pain

Practice makes perfect

Hitting your child in a random place on their body in a fit of rage is child abuse. Spanking should happen on the bottom, and after the parent has calmed down. But yes and yes.

Spank - Yes
Beat - No

Yes, and Yes! Done in love and with respect. My children, now 3 & 6 are more often than not more disciplined in public than most other kids - cause they know and understand that their bad actions will have consequences

Definitely no. My son is nearly 10 and I have never spanked him, and have never had the need to either.

Most definitely yes, most of the problems we sit with today in this world is as a direct result of an entire generation that said "I will never treat my kids the way I was treated" maybe if the law held parents 100% accountable for what their children do, peoples attitudes would be different.

No. I believe spanking could emotionally damage a sensitive child.
Children respond well to one-on-one chats about isolated incidences of misbehaviour. Taking away privileges like movies or games etc for repeated offences works. Teenagers behave very quickly if they are threatened with grounding and/or loss of cellphone privileges.
