Netflix is dropping an Ayrton Senna documentary this year
It’ll be a six-part biopic, with roles for Alain Prost and Frank Williams also already cast
Ayrton Senna: Brazilian icon and three-time Formula One world champion. Could have been more, but even in his short time he enjoyed a wonderful career filled with countless picture book moments that've been committed to film many times over. And now, Netflix is planning another to add to the list.
Production for Senna started as far back as 2020 - with delays caused by the Coronavirus pandemic - and has since seen the film crew take to various locations around the world, including Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay, with the United Kingdom set to round off the filming leg.
It will be a biopic, and the cast was already assembled last year, with roles for the likes of Alain Prost, Martin Brundle and the late Frank Williams already filled. The Prost dynamic will be particularly enthralling for fans, given the heated relationship the two shared.
Rumours currently suggest six episodes are in the works, kicking off with Senna’s beginnings as a Formula Ford driver in 1981 and spanning the length of his 41-race-win career, right up until Imola.
