Is there a fee/penalty if one downgrades from Telkom 4Mbps to 1Mbps? I'm referring to just the ADSL line rental.

No I have upgraded/downgraded a lot recently and there has been no charge, also they charge you pro rata for the month up until your upgrade/downgrade date... Another thing to note is that the upgrade/downgrade usually takes under 24hrs to complete (sometimes even by the time you hang up) so be sure you want to do it when you phone :)

Try 10210 then after you input your landline number, option 1 followed by option 2 (sales department).

/apologies if you get put through hoops :p

Geez, we don't always land on the same options. Weird. Anyway, the guy said I should withhold downgrading now, else I won't be reimbursed. He said I should call just before month end so that I get re-imbursed. Good on him :)
It's my dad who wants to downgrade his ADSL line. It's just too expensive with DSTV as well. He wants to downgrade to 384kbps.

Its painful downgrading though - the loss of speed is definitely noticeable especially if you Youtube or Torrent.

384? Offer to pay for the line :)

Hopefully the rumours of Telkom speed bumps in June are true... 384 -> 1024 and 1024 -> 2048 (free bumps).

If true then I'll be downgrading from 4096 --> 2048.

That would be awesome.

Its most definitely happening but the question is how many will have exchanges that will support this upgrade? Will it end up like the current upto 10MB situation?

Admittingly we only got 6MB since 3 weeks and it is the best thing since losing weight :p, i don't mind waiting (another line at 1MB) but what about others out there...

/bot, noted on phone options :) op 3 then 5 :D thanks.
