Driving licence card printer broken again

if you get a fine for the card, take it and sort it out. If you don't have time for court that is your problem as it won't go to court, unless you sit on it.
All that takes time, a temporary license costs very little when you renew yours.
If it were so cut and dried, why are these people wasting their time?

I'll tell you why - because many traffic officers doesn't know the law.

You don't need to argue with the traffic cop, that is your first mistake. Never ever go into being pulled over with a horrible mindset. Go in calmly, present your card and nod, smile and comply, if you get a fine for the card, take it and sort it out. If you don't have time for court that is your problem as it won't go to court, unless you sit on it.
You're reading too much into my statement. The word argument there has nothing to do with getting hot under the collar.

The temporary license is only required if you've lost your previous one, as stated before if you're that worried keep the receipt with the old card, that is showing you've applied for the renewal, technically the old card is still valid 3 months after it's expired anyway.
You do know Afriforum is fighting exactly what I am saying? The punishment is illegal, cause there is no law against it, they aren't wasting their time. The problem is that people like you and Dreamking just roll over like good little puppies and take it.

You take the fine, you get it squashed, what's so hard about that?

Then hold Fifoosi Malballas accountable for you being expired, it is NOT your fault, it's the Government's fault.

Onus is on the Govt to provide a SERVICE, that's why we pay TAXES and LEVIES.

If they cannot fulfill their MANDATE, then they will need to be R E P L A C E D
this, but we all know laws are selectively enforced in SA depending on ones skin tone and political affiliation

Yup, I let mine "lapse" by 2 or 3 years once cos I just forgot about it...

I received a fine for an expired license (wording was specific), and didn't fight it with the cop at all, just went to the public prosecutor a few days later and the fine was squashed. Took about 20 minutes.
I don't see how it took 20 minutes unless you're the public prosecutor's neighbour... or you didn't factor in the trip there. Besides, we don't all live in the same neighbourhoods as these people. It's an hour's drive to get to the nearest major center for me. No, sorry, it's my fault if I don't spend the little bit of cash on a temporary license when I apply for my replacement license.

I purposefully carry my expired licence that expired in 2016. I always hand that card over if stopped. They look at it hand it back to me and say thank you.

Any fancy residential complex where they require your licence to scan I hand them the expired one. Im not sure why we need to renew as everyone doesn't seem to have a problem with the expired licence. The valid one sits comfortably in the wallet never needed to show them.

any judgement yet?

Thats a different argument. I assume it's partly because your eyesight changes.
Nope, it's a money making scheme. As before the new cards you never had to renew the card.

Oh without a doubt, if its a pain in the arse to get to the public prosecutor then that changes the equation.

For me, the regional magistrates court is over the road from the shop I go to regularly, so on a shopping trip, I just popped over to the Public prosecutor.

Eyesight changing is a valid reason to confirm you should still be allowed to drive. Whether it's a 'money making scheme' or not is another discussion.
Before the new cards, I could drive with or without glasses, nobody cared that I could or couldn't see.

Strange I've never needed the licensing department to tell me my eyesight is changing. Going to the optometrist does that, also as stated they never had this requirement before, the eyesight thing is just an "excuse"
