DroidTV MX or Roku?

@whoo_kid: I have a 3TB drive but don't think my 2TB enclosure will support it, I'll test and report back.

@Yotch: Will test some channels out tonight.

It works :) I chose one of the videos from your link and it started to stream. I first only heard sound and then the video appeared after pressing the full screen button. It was the eurosports channel I think

No luck with the 3TB drive :( I'll ask some friends at work if they have a drive to lend me
 
Hi guys,

I just received the G-Box Midnight MX2 http://matricom.net/ which the DroidTV is based on from Amazon today. Opened it and plugged in to check everything is working (which it is) and am looking to sell it as I am not getting the additional tv I was planning to use it for. Looking for R1300.

Long time no update

For those of you that bought an MX, a method to update to the official Gbox MX2 1.1.5 firmware was released a few weeks back. If on 1.1.5, updating to the latest 1.1.6 Matricom update works using the normal update method

How is 1.1.6? Friggin awesome :D It's much faster and supports OTA updates (Over the Air)

Hi all,

I just want to mention that I purchased a Droit TV MX box just over a week ago and I must say it meets all the purposes that I require it do do. It plays all the files I throw at it and the streaming is excellent, absolutely no lag in voice and everything is in sync.
I absolutely love the product and I can truly recommend it to everyone.

The unit I purchased from AVSupply and they have exceeded all my expectations in customer service, I have never had such great service and follow up, and they make sure that their customers are satisfied.

I bought the product last week, I had some issues with the unit I received that it freezes up while playing a movie(any format) in XBMC and the built in media players, I then reported it to Jacque and gave her the screenshots of the problem with the green vertical lines during the freeze issue who assisted me and gave me so much time(assisted outside working hours via email support and suggestions), all though nothing worked, they replaced the unit and all I can say is that I'm loving it! :)

This is a rock solid device, my unit was only the 2nd one ever returned out of all.

They are a company which delivers such an excellent service!! I truly am a extremely happy customer! And guys if you are in doubt in this product, don't be! It is a powerful unit that surprised me allot. Using the Gyroscopic Air Mouse as well.

I'm busy working on making mine an OUYA type games console, will let you know how it works out with my wireless Xbox 360 controller
 
I have ACRyan Playon HD, this droidTV makes it look like DOS6.2 :O

I have read on another review that the DroidTV MX has problems playing media from a Samba share on the network. Can anybody confirm if this is the case ?????

That's the only way I play my media and haven't had any issues.

How old was the review and did they say what version the MX was running? I'm on Matricom 1.1.6

I cannot remember how old that review was. After reading other reviews, it seems to me that the issue was resolved.

I decided to get a DroidTV MX as well. I got my box on Friday. So far did not have any issues except for playing ISO DVD images over the network.

I could not find a solution to this so far and decided to convert the ISO image to mkv files. It seems to work without any problems.

It is a pity the its video resolution is limited to 1280x720. Does anybody knows if there are firmware version in the pipeline that will support full HD resolution?

That, there, is holding me back from getting an Android TV box. So not even a quad-core 2.2GHz, 2Gb RAM unit will play back at 1080p?

I have one of these and am awaiting delivery of this. I flashed a 1080p overclocked kernel for the Ugoos UT1 that bumped the speeds of the CPU, RAM and GPU speeds to 1800Mhz, 720Mhz and 600Mhz respectively, it is stable as a rock with no lockups in the past 437-hours. Got an Antutu score of 19879 with that kernel.
It can playback 1080p 30fps smoothly but stutters occasionally with 1080p 60fps. The ROM supports NTFS out the box so it has no problems reading my 2TB external and 6GB+ MKV's

The reason for ordering the Minix is because it has a much larger enthusiast following than the Ugoos. This has resulted in XMBC launching a version specifically for the Minix X7. That said, as both devices have similar hardware, one could easily flash the Minix ROM onto the Ugoos and just keep the Ugoos kernel.
