Drop in Lithium battery replacement for alarm system

I would just be interested in the very small voltage deviation between 100% SOC and 25% SOC on a LiFePO4.

Most systems like Alarms and Gate Motors are primed to cutoff the battery at around 10.5v, which is the point where it is assumed the battery should not be further discharged. LiFePO4 though may be realtively discharged and still read around 11.7V, how do these systems deal with that?
I know with my 2 X Blue Novas in my UPS it just dies, unlike giving a warning that it's about to die when it had lead acids.

Anyway, that is about to stop happening, got me some mini UPSs and will use the Blue Novas differently.

Either way, be very careful when dealing with any user with a recently created account, specially not registered as a Company on the forum, but advertising another business.

I was looking through this thread but am still not sure what to do. Here’s what I did:

I changed from a 18Amp Lead Acid battery to the 7A Lithium Battery (Securi Prod). It’s lasted months without dying during loadshedding but for the first time today, it died a few seconds before loadshedding ended.

I understand that the built in charger is a dud. What can I do to get around this? Do I need to use an external charger? If so, which ones do you recommend?
I am mainly concerned on which charger to use since I don’t want to get something that still trickle charges or damages the battery
 
So I have a friend with a IDS x64 alarm, apparently the alarms charger is not sufficient for LiFePO4 batteries, so which charger that I buy (Communica? Takealot?) and connect in addition to the alarms charging cables?

Not sure what you mean by not sufficient? Sure it won't necessarily charge at a fast enough rate that the lithuim can allow and is most likely a trickle charge but it would still work?

Whats the output of the charger? My paradox is only around 650mA if I recall at high setting.

Also not sure how wise it would be to connect a alternate charger on the same terminal points as the batteries and alarm panel.
 
What is missing is how that connects to the IDS board? Does it output 16V?

It outputs 13V DC which you can attach to the + - terminals on the board itself. These are commonly used by alarm installers to provide extra backup power to alarm panels, gate locks, etc

just remember the add on chargers still only charge at a max of 1.5 amp ,the current displayed is output current not charge current .
 
Yes, but you will either have to disconnect the 16V AC supply, or put a one-way diode in to stop the board from back charging the external battery.
the external supplied units only switch over the output when power goes off .has nothing to do with the alarm system ..purely a backup on mains failure
 
Where does it connect? Is it in place of the existing battery or additional?
check on your booklet it may differ from alarm unit to unit .those independent psu make a great emergency backup lighting solution for 12 v led strips .only come on on mains fail .some aux contacts on alarm board are only to drive additional things and not for backup batterys .in theory you could connect the outboard unit to your battery especially if its lith based as it wont affect the battery ,only keep it topped up .

Does replace the power supply currently used by the alarm system?

I also have the ids X64 system and want to ugrade the battery which is currently being hammered by the bouts of loadshedding and power outages we are experiencing.

This appears to be a problem in a few devices.

Our office complex put a Li-Ion into a Hansa gate motor and only now have we realised that it never actually charges the battery to its full capacity. The charge on a multi-meter always reads low.

Put a new gel battery back and after 12h its showing full voltage charge.
