Drunk drivers slammed after two cyclists killed

its also confirmed that they were not allowed on that section of the road
 
Sad to see so many daft people here picking on the cyclists, when in all likelihood the culprit was driving under the influence and perhaps speeding.

People actually lost their lives here and yet these daft people feel that their tiny insignificant irritations towards cyclists justifies the loss of life. The fact of the matter is that, even though the cyclists were not meant to be on that road, if a competent and law abiding driver was in command of the vehicle, a group of people would still have had their dad's, husbands, brothers or best friends.

I in no way condone the cyclists riding on the highway, but you daft punks have lost your moral compass... you guys have the same mentality of the EFF store-trashers... Using a weak argument to defend your own small-minded irritations.

How do you know the culprit was under the influence and speeding?

Yeah, sad for the lives lost, but fck cyclists who ride where they are not allowed to. Bunch of entitled kunts who think rules don't apply to them.

Well, we can safely conclude he was doing something he shouldn't have been doing, or else he would have seen them, even if just briefly, and not have said..

He said he became aware of the accident when he heard a loud bang, his windscreen shattered and then, shortly thereafter, heard another bang.

Then there should also be no dispute that there is shared blame here, but no, poor fcken cyclists are always victims.
 
The main thing for me is the guy claims he didn't see the cyclists.
If the cyclists were in the middle of the road going slowly just after a bend, it would be understandable for him not to have seen the cyclists. So then this is just another case of some driver killing someone that shouldn't have been on the road. So he sould get the same sentence as anyone who runs over a drunken pedestrian crawling across the hiway.

In short, people died, the law needs to take it's course.
 
Shared blame yes... that's not disputed. But the dead cyclists have already paid dearly for their choices. The driver should not go a scott free if he was actually drunk and speeding. That's all I'm saying.

Not sure where you get that cyclists are always the victim? That's a rather large chip that only you can get off your shoulder. Makes no difference to me whether you do or not. But I would hope that you don't act like a d00s to decent law-abiding cyclists you encounter just because you may have come across those few cyclists that really do act stupid when they ride. Don't be a Neanderthal... be lekker ok?

Oh please :crylaugh: Yes, they paid dearly for their stupid choices. Let that be a lesson as to why you should not ride where you are not allowed to.

Any common sense should indicate that the most vulnerable party should take the strictest precautions. :rolleyes:

And yes, I am sick and tired of cyclist acting in an indignant manner when their mistakes and blatant ignorance of the law is pointed out. Mistakes and transgressions that put THEM in danger. :rolleyes: Middle fingers and shaking heads. TSEK. I actually 100% of the time stop at red traffic lights and stop street. 100% of the time. No less.
