Groenewald pointed out that over the past year MultiChoice added 8 channels to the DStv platform...

Conveniently forgetting the channels they REMOVED... Animax being one of them.

The decision to increase or not is determined once the business planning process is completed,” said Groenewald.
Has it ever not increased? Must be a tough decision.

Its racist! MC is directly making SA rugby supporters pay a premium where as SA soccer supporters are left with easy cheap access to their favourite sport.
As rugby supporter you have no other choice but to pay the premium or you sit without the option of seeing your team play. Total BS.

:-) perhaps you should have Afriforum organise a protest about this.

That is it, I am gonna cancel dstv then. As much as I love the HD channels, at R559 for premium and R65 for the PVR fee, I am looking at R624 a month. The PVR fee should really not be charged for in my opinion since I actually paid for the hd-pvr in the first place...

Not to get political or racist... But DSTV only caters lately for the black people these days...

+1 for giving each person the option to choose the channels you want. "the so called excuse that some mybb member posted some time ago to why they cant do this solution is the cost of bandwidth (satellite) and equipment... ja... whateva..."

31 March 2010 they posted a profit of R2,9bn. Shame they must be sad....

what Multichoice, MTN, Vodacom and all the other blood sucking companies in this country fail to understand is that greed is not a sustainable business model, right now the revolutions we're witnessing around the world are targeting greedy governments and heads of state, it's only a matter of time before large corporations become the next target, although probably in a different way. People are getting fed up!

/sigh

Since I've jumped ship from DSTV and moved over to TopTV I can only point and laugh.
TOP TV offers me exactly what I like. Great infotainment through all their Discover Channels withouth the endless repeats!
The BEST feature about Top TV, minimal ad breaks with only 1 or maximum 2 ads.

I am paying half the price for the same usage I had from DSTV.

Yes but you cant watch the Super 15 can you?

Lol, just wait til toptv gets enough subscribers, then U'll see them shove ads in every butt-crack they can find.
I think dstv are playing their cards close to their chest bout the hikes.

I wonder what BS will they spin if the sport that they have right now is also available on TOPTV? Many people will jump ship and suddenly they will drop prices to keep their clientele.

How much longer are all you Sports Fans going to bend over and take these price increases?

You must have a poor bum with a hole the size of the Titanic!

Time for all of you to chuck in the towel, organise a mass boycott of DSTV and show them for once and for all who runs the show.

+1000. Last year there was no choice, now you have TOPTV minus the sport at a fraction of the price. I believe that TOPTV will get onboard with sport eventually. Waiting patiently

Groenewald pointed out that “MultiChoice incurs increasing costs regardless of whether there is direct competition or not.”

What she is not saying (because it is nice to make people think DSTV thinks it has competition) is that Top TV isn't aiming for DSTV's subsribers. At least not the subscribers that DSTV really wants, which is the wealthy viewer. TOP TV gets to pick up those who cannot afford DSTV. It is not competition but rather two feeders in the same pond... one is a surface feeder and the other a bottom feeder. Considering them in competition is just silly no matter what who says. Companies in SA are very good at these type of arrangements. I believe government itself actually makes these arrangements for some reason... CUNNING STUNTS that they are! Think of Neotel and Telkom for an example...
