DStv Explora decoder details revealed

I like..

Make that run on the older decoders, it can't be difficult.

bah, 5min of my life that I'll never get back!
I'm so tired of dstv "news articles" in the future I'm not going to waste my time and just ignore.

Waste of time - USB ports needs to be enabled so I can download stuff to iPad to watch when I am travelling.

That will never happen - the content suppliers won't allow it. Everything has to stay on the PVR (encrypted).

MC implement HDCP and content encryption religiously. The internet service will come soon, but a 2mb line is suggested to avoid long waits.

Am installing one in a house in Montagu next week using a SatCR LNB. Have arranged that a LAN cable comes down in the same trunking as the dish feed. Customer is very keen about it

Sounds good. Installed mine now...just cater for the long software download period once installed.

Which decoder did you remove to make space for the new one? How is navigation speed in tv guide and playlists?

1110, speed is much better....much better than the 2P. Setup now is Explora as primary and 2P as secondary.

Software? I assume you mean Box Office & Catch Up? Should all be there in a few days

Nope. It seems it comes installed with a minimal software package and downloads the new software from DStv when it connects to signal first time round.

Cool..... If I get an Explora, it will sit next to my primary 2P and replace my dualview SDPVR.... which I intend to sell to recoup costs...

I was concerned about remote inputs to 2P interfering with the Explora and vice verse or are they on different remote programs?

Under the remote control section just leave legacy remote to ignore commands and all will be well.

The Explora uses the A5 remote which is not compatible with the older decoders.
