DStv Exploras - software updates

Not sure why the SW devs dont implement a shutdown/reboot option so that when we know there is loadshedding the unit can cleanly shutdown or gracefully reboot.

Loadshedding kills these HDD's so fast.

Also why they use such a kak CPU in them, sometimes laggy as hell.

Just found out that channel 901 "M-Net + 1" is being cancelled from mid May. Yet another sign of the times.

If only MC would have listened, done simple, effective, proper QA.

@krugie , have your Explodas imploded yet as well?

BTW, the older decoders are suffering a plenty with the ancient E16 error issue, as DSTV blunders from one old error problem to the next. Could swear we are in a time warp band are back in 2011 or even earlier.
Fault intensity is up again here, although given it's weekend when they usually experiment with authentication I'm not surprised.

On the Explora last night, another probable E16 related issue - "No PVR Subscription" happened again and prevented a recording, and this going on while we were successfully using the PVR functionality!
(Another related one it seems is "Program Not Found".)

Anyway, what appears to be going on here is some sort of authentication musical chairs / random channel access failure.
Some likely proof is on my old SD PVR, which one presumes now gets little or no hidden s/w updates. In the last few weeks it regularly loses the ability to tune into or record a few "random" channels, requiring a reboot.

First time when trying to record again after SD PVR reboot, often there's some authentication confusion at the start of the recording but it manages to then go on.

Madness.

Has anyone else noticed that their Explora 2A no longer connects to their wired network? Decoders state that they are up to date (can check the FW version when I get home).

The 2A updated tp L90 whole we were away. The 3A version is L49. All our recordings went through no problems in our time away.
I notice the the Flight attendant after E4 aired last night loaded all the remaining episodes on CU+ another CU mess-up.
