This is a big problem.
If you a rugby and cricket fan for example and want to watch the six nations and say a cricket even you need 2 x accounts now. That is R829 x 2 just because you want to watch 2 sport events at the same time.
I usually watch my main sport even on the tv and then have my laptop open on the side with the second sport even I'm following. This is no longer possible unless I fork out more cash. It feels like a money grab by DSTV.
It's mind blowing that DSTV cannot grasp the concept that there are legitimate reasons why you would want to stream more than 1 device at a time in the same household.
Would love to know as well. Are there any other alternatives besides DSTV and Showmax for local rugby, cricket and soccer?
We were going to go the streaming route, but because we have two television sets in the house, that ship has sailed.Very bad news for their streaming only packages. They are already overpriced but limiting to 1 active stream is the nail in the coffin.
So you're paying R829pm and don't have a decoder?

The dish/decoder picture quality is far better than the DSTV Now stream. You can actually get the full installation for R399 on special. It's not that bad of a deal considering you can get 3 to 4 active streams on 1 package. Might as well just switch to decoder now although I'm going to need to pay extra hardware and i don't want to give DSTV more than I already do.

Exactly. We happen to be moving to the windiest part of Cape Town. Before anyone asks, yes, we currently have a dish and two Exploras.Works really well for me. It can be stormy and windy outside but no issues while streaming. Afrihost has an on network Akamai cache also which means zero buffering issues.
I pay one netflix sub I can watch on 4 devices same time. I pay one Amazon sub I can watch 3 devices at once.I don't see the problem - at least this approach is logical. You pay one sub, you watch one stream. Hopefully, it means that the silly device limit goes away.
It's coming once those dstv contracts expire.Im amazed SA Sport havent created their own channels, like Disney+, Hulu, Netflix etc.
They could made Shiploads of money more than what DSTV is giving them. Imagine getting all the advertising revenue and viewing revenue online too.

IMHO expect an extra view fee for streaming in the forthcoming months...
NowTv (by SKY UK) in the UK does same thing.

But then again this is Multichoice so don't expect it anytime soon.
