DStv limiting concurrent streams from March 2022

Streaming companies like Amazon, Netflix etc need to grab more of the pie when it comes to sports. More competition in the business to spread it around.
I read Amazon are bidding for the 2022 IPL. If they got that, would it mean DSTV couldn't stream it locally for instance?
That's going to bring out a whole lot of other coffee and muffin sessions where DSTV do nothing but moan about how streaming media is killing their business (justifiably so for staying in the 1990s).

But this is going to end up with more people cancelling their subs if the 2 other people using the ability to stream DSTV for sports/kids shows etc. are no longer able too, and 1 person carries the R950 can at the end of each month.

Im amazed SA Sport havent created their own channels, like Disney+, Hulu, Netflix etc.

They could made Shiploads of money more than what DSTV is giving them. Imagine getting all the advertising revenue and viewing revenue online too.
That's the issue. I watch rugby, cricket and F1. Some other sports as well if I have some time. Only DSTV can give me that with no hassle.

IPTV = problem solved

some of the football is even 1080p 50fps

glorious

edit: if DSTV had sports in 4k with a DECENT bitrate at 60fps I would probably pay R800 a month for that
Can you recommend a service?

Yeah this is a stupid move DSTV...

Tier your accounts with the number of simultaneous streams would be much more "reasonable".
Family - 1 stream
Compact - 2 streams
Compact+ - 3 streams
Premium - 4 streams

There are also infinitely more subtle ways to deal with the password sharing problem by using Geolocation stuff... Granted that is probably way beyond DSTV's capabilities but hey.

Netflix here we come.

There are other ways to watch F1.
I have been subscribing to F1TV for the last 3 years already. About R500 a year and you can stream on 5 different platforms at the same time. You can also select different cameras.

I have one screen with my favorite car, another of the race and a third one with the telemetry.

It's a huge problem for households with more than 1 TV. In my house we use DSTV Now on 3 different TV's. Even 2 simultaneous streams is too little, but this is now ridiculous. If they are going to limit it, the least they could do is limit it by IP address. That would make more sense.
Why don't you use the decoder?

See, if you guys did not share access between one another, this would never have happened and you could still have enjoyed DSTV form home, work or your holiday home!
Do you get DsTV there where you are now?

Serves them right if their ad rates are based on the number of viewers...

This is a big problem.

If you a rugby and cricket fan for example and want to watch the six nations and say a cricket even you need 2 x accounts now. That is R829 x 2 just because you want to watch 2 sport events at the same time.

I usually watch my main sport even on the tv and then have my laptop open on the side with the second sport even I'm following. This is no longer possible unless I fork out more cash. It feels like a money grab by DSTV.
Why do you need 2 accounts? You can still watch on your TV with the decoder.

Same...

I would never ever go back to DSTV's shyteshow of an attempt to broadcast F1 after experiencing F1TV

I don't have a decoder. I use the streaming package with my Samsung smart tv for streaming.
