I've added the Showmax option as it's "free" but in fairness it's not a patch on Netflix.

yeh agree with this.. i suppose its free, and there might be a few things worth watching on there

The message says you don't have a Premium DSTV subscription, so you won't qualify for Free* showmax.

3.2 The DStv Payment facility will allow a Showmax subscriber, who is also a DStv Premium subscriber, to add Showmax to their DStv account. In doing so, the subscriber will get Showmax included in their DStv Premium subscription. This offer terminates 31 March 2019, after which the prevailing monthly rate for Showmax will prevail.

I managed to subscribe OK using a new email. (to avoid issue of system getting confused by an old subscription)

It is a bit confusing because after clicking through to the Showmax site, and signing in with new email/pass, it shows the last step of the subscription with this message:

You can now enjoy your 14 day FREE trial.
You will be billed on 25/09/2017 once your trial is over.
Thereafter you will be automatically billed R99 per month. You can cancel your subscription at any time.

When clicking on Manage Account - Manage Subscription, it does however show Stored Payment as my DSTV account, and my Expiry Date as Unlimited, so I guess it is OK.

I will wait until after the 25th to cancel my other subscription (paid via Telkom).

Would one in future have access to the same shows/films via either DSTV now or Showmax? (showmax quality of streaming is far better for me than that of DSTV Now)

What does your account look like on the ShowMax website? I have a R99 entry for this month in billing history ffs.

It's working now, didn't ask me for R99 or anything but under billing history it does say R99, but when linking the two it no longer asked to confirm the purchase of R99.
