DSTV price increase in April

At least they did something to justify the R29 increase this time.

They did? Did they add another repeat channel when I wasn't looking?
In the previous 2 years (it might be more) they took away channels and still increased the price.

I feel R469 is way too much for the Premium bouquet, especially since DStv doesn't even upgrade your hardware for free when the time comes, let alone giving new subscribers the hardware free when they buy the package.

I am fedup!

Ditto terence - I actually suspended my at the end of Jan - just because I got tired of watching the same repeats on discovery, seeing the movies I had already seen in the cinema or on dvd (which is frankly better quality) - and the only real reason to keep it was for stuff like CSI and those "premium" shows - however for R500 per month - you can buy a season or two of these on DVD each month - well maybe 1 season and rent alot of movies :p

Alas though, I will miss the F1 GPs .. but someone will be recording it to dvd for me to watch (it'll just be "delayed-live" ;) )

I don't get it. With the new operators going live sometime this year you'd think they'd DROP prices to try infuse some customer loyalty or maybe just to stay competitive, but instead they are actively trying to lose customers.

Ay.

Great business sense.

Got rid of DSTV a long time ago! and what did I miss...? Nothing!!! :D

I dont think multichoice realise how many people who have Dstv think its a novelty/boring/overrated/repeats etc, and when they see the latest price increase, alot of those clients are going to cancel IMO :)

I just got this email, note the part I highlighted in bold

I dont think many people will cancel. Every year people complain about the pricing, but yet DSTV's subscriber base continues to grow. Its too much effort to cancel and get DVD's for many.

Everybody feels DSTV is over-priced and they go and increase prices. Weird strategy.

thats it, the last straw. time to import the the fixed decoders from china!

I'd also like to cancel the M-Net part of it. HTF can they justify that M-Net costs more than 100+ combined channels... I can't remember the last time I watched something on M-Net.

People are gonna pay R260 for one channel and R210 for the other 100?

That doesn't even make sense! But, as was mentioned, most people will moan but still pay the money.
