DSTV price increase in April

I cant believe this. I have been expecting a price decrease considering their already inflated pricing and competition entering the market. DSTV - you just lost another premium PVR customer! Bye bye
 
I did cancel mine... more than two years ago already... when I got the ADSL... now all I have is the Easy View option so I can see the free to air channels in good quality = R18 a month... still a rip off... but at least it is not R500 a month. The other thing you are being ripped off for is the insurance... R20 a month... it should be R5 a month max.

Everything else I want to watch, I just download.

come on... you know that if you guys all cancel... multichoice will poep themselves and drop the prices!!!

this tactic has been tried in other areas as well - such as cellphone costs etc...where we are encouraged not to use it on a certain day...the problem is that most people are not willing to make the sacrifice and that in turn allows monopolies to continue their dictatorship.
 
Can you get DSTV without MNET for R209 per month??
If so, I will cancel MNET - I only watch it for the series (CSI, Prison Break, ER). These I can rent from the video store. I only have to wait 6 months or so after it airs on MNET. Downloading it isn't for me.
 
Looks like Multichoice took a page out of Telkom's daily handbook..."How to run a monopoly for dummies"...

I am cancelling.

Thats ok, just another nail in their coffin. They certainly have been taking notes from Telkom's dummy guide.

This doesn't directly affect me because I can't afford DSTV, but it still sickens me because at this rate I'll never be able to afford it.
 
Here's my response to their price increase mail:

"Dear Price Increase Team

Please provide me with a detailed breakdown of the additional value that I will receive for only R29.09 as from 01 April 2008.

Please make your feedback applicable to me, as an individual subscriber, as I am not interested in general statements relating to cost from providers etc.

Should I feel that the value you will be adding for R29.09 is of no benefit or interest to me, please provide a contact person to whom I can direct my request to opt out of the price increase while still enjoying my current benefits.

LOL! Good one Thestealth! :) Thats all we can do. I we don't laugh we will go bossies! I can only laugh at their dstv adds! They don't even have to place adds for them self on dstv anyway it is just to pad time till the next repeat.
 
i second/third that: I don't have DSTV either and I really don't think I'm missing anything. R500 per month, for what.

watch them hike their rates again as soon as broadcast HD.
 
I use my decoder as a relatively good clock. The red light is just slightly irritating :p
