cheaper to download the stuff anyhows! Hopefully by end of the year we will have more cheaper int bandwidth so we'll sommer stream the ****!

mmm what about sports? great get one buddy to setup a media server and stream from him LOL!

Drukkie you talk about downloading stuff, did you not try and shut down the sites who provide us with the means to get series?

DSTV should be charging you 2k a month for being a *beep* *beep*

Thieves

Multichoice are a bunch of thieves... I don't even have DSTV and I've paid for 4 months of someone elses subscription ... (see here)

And now they putting up their prices?

I am addicted to Egoli and Binnelanders. So I have DStv premium, but I think changing to DStv Select 2 with Kyknet seems to make a lot more sense.

Are you serious? damn man a double j &b plus water sets you back like 30 bucks plus whateva my fiancee is drinking, plus a couple rounds of shooters. 500 bucks is nothing at a pub or club man.

500 bucks gets me an entire month of the best sports action and keeps the fiancee happy :).

Love ya supersport!!!

Perhaps when you have kids etc, you should come and tell us if it's still not a lot. Most families have school fees, food, clothes, etc to pay for. Not all of us visit clubs every week. In fact, the last time I visited a club or pub was a number of years back. In this market, DSTV should be creative and try to find innovative ways to increase their customer base instead of just ripping off people more. This increase is going to hurt them more then they think.

I don't think Multichoice have yet realised how much business they will lose once the average adsl cap increases to around 20-30Gb/month in this country.

I canceled my DSTV in 2006 already. We have only connected again for two December months since then. I think in those two months we caught up with everything DSTV had to show. In the meantime I saved over R10,000.00 and I rather download what I want to watch from the Internet. I can now watch what I want to watch when I want it. No commercials, no interruptions. :D DSTV FTL!!!!

This increase is problematic at the best of times... I'm hoping there will be a relatively large backlash about this... what with the economic hardships everyone is going through at the moment.

eish, my thinking exactly with regards to entertainment, just a pity i still have to find a non MC cost effective way to watch sports from the comfort of my home.

I had DSTV for 2 months before deciding its not worth it, and cancelled it last January. I only ever watched Discovery/History/National geographic. their Series channel is a joke (it should be called the Repeat channel)

Now I just watch downloaded tv shows, via a PS3 and a media server. :)

We on HDDSTV sit with a half baked system.
Whenever will we be able to access the features like one touch and the weather channel, programs etc. etc.:mad:

So pirating tv series and movies are fine but you throw your toys out of the cot over a R30 increase from Multichoice who has to pay the studios for those same shows? The studios probably put their prices up because of the amount of piracy going on so indirectly you are collectively probably responsible for the increases.

Good going.

You haven't seen the profits that Naspers get from Multichoice, have you?

I was just thinking the same thing. Its actually priceless...how hypocritical can one get.

You know in the past the pirates at least keep it low key but now it's all in the open on the forum.

If I remember correctly, the studios take a % cut so the increase will be coming from DSTV. May be wrong, but thats the way I remember it.

Who are the real pirates? You can get 250 channels of satellite TV in the USA for R300.00 a month. Bend over and spread those lil cheeks wide... :D ... and downloading episodes on the internet in South Africa has NEVER been charged as piracy. Show me ONE court case please?

America is a first world country. South Africa is not. If you want first world prices then emigrate.

It may not have been charged as piracy but everybody knows it is and if you are honest with yourself you will agree. You are stealing other peoples IP. The legal way is to buy the dvd's but then you will whine about SK and Nu-Metro ripping you off.
