Could have had a Launch special to first 1000 customers at say R799 or something, because then customers would feel a bit easier. Spending 1300 not knowing what the box is capable of, or how it will handle various apps etc is a big red flag imo.

I mean Xiaomi is in the country, they could have partnered with Xiaomi to release a DSTV branded Mi box, with DSTV and Showmax Pre installed.

So hardware wise, the box is a bit on the "older" more generic side in my opinion, but not horrible and perfectly capable of doing what is needed.

We unfortunately know that Multichoices "efficient" coding is a bit of a joke really, so I don't expect the box to perform very well.

No google store is a non starter for me. Will the dstv app be different on their box?

Get the DStv Explora Ultra has all the outstanding content with an array of entertainment with applications such as ShowMax and YouTube.

DSTV needs to come up with better and cheaper solutions to invite me to spend 1299 for a device that on old technology. It seems there head of departments are still in the 80's as they dont promote what they have. Sell the package. Spend 1299 +699 if i want to stream...
