DStv versus TopTV

DSTV is still a rip off and they did what Vodacom should have done but instead they went and changed colors (nothing wrong with changing colors).

I think TOP TV needs some time. When Multichoice started all they had was MNET.

Everyone should bite the bullet and boycott DSTV for a month or two. That should shake things up.

Also, you have Broadband you have not mentioned about the add-on bouquet. The Indian Bouquet (5 Channels) for example is an extra R192 if you add-on and R251 if standalone whereas TOP TV's Indian bouquet (5 Channels) is just R99

Thanks for the information taken off a promotional flyer..seriously who writes these articles? When I read the headline I thought, OK its going to be a nice informative article that has some critical analysis..but no its choc full of promo material facts..lol and the guys cannot even get the simple table right?? I don't want to be over critical of Mybb but really this is of a poor standard. You know theres some interesting things that can be written about Satellite television in South Africa but we get drivel. Possibly even consider comparing what we get with other African countries offerings that are respectable. Or rather get some okes off the forums to write the articles or even take multiple snippets of objective user posts with good analysis and you'd have something interesting to publish :) Cmon Mybb..

Got toptv for couple months now, thinking of getting dstv back for the series and news. Music and doc's Toptv rocks!

Amazing what a speck of competition can do and it's still early days. All power to you, TopTV. What ever happened to Telkom-throw-away-Super-5-Media-Sold-to-Chinese-and-empowerment-group.fail? Still napping?

Time to get HD PVR coz being one of the premium DSTV subscribers I really feel I'm one of the many already being overcharged to allow Multichoice to compete on the lower end... I might as well pay the extra R65. I hate paying so much but Sport is important to me, MNET & all the series my wifey can't live without. Its fair to mention that CBeebies is a life saver when you have an annoyed 2 year old - this channel is a fantastic distraction!

Canecelled DSTV, didn't go TopTV either. Nowadays watch movies on the TVs. You can rent an awful lot of DVDs for R500+/month

those tables should be updated with the repeat count for both.. good heavens how many times do you want to see the same scrups season in prime time??

You didn't mention anything about the EPG on the Top TV decoder being miles better and more responsive than the EPG on the DSTV decoders.

It's been quite clear for a while now that most articles posted on mybb are pretty useless with regards to journalistic content. I'm pretty sure that 90% of articles get posted just to generate clicks.

+1 - You won't believe how many other families are in exactly the same scenario. Sport for hubby, series for wife and Cbeebies for toddler - can only really do it with an additional DSTV channel or 2.

I went HDPVR about a year ago and have not looked back, besides the fact of using the HD channels for the extra R65.00 you also get the video on Demand (VoD) function and this is truly worth the R65.00 by itself. I never watch any of the main programs at the aired time anymore, I wait for it to come on VoD or until the Saturday morning and can watch the program without any of the annoying adverts.

I agree, another article that doesn't say anything, the title is more informative than the article, copy and paste.
